Hunted down Barroth, and we found a black scale pointing towards a Cephadrome being responsible for the Whirlpool blocking the way to Albarax. When we reported our findings however, two bozos a Professor and his assistant said the age of Hunters and Riders is over, and presented his pet project: a controlled Barroth in heavy armor, Barroth Ex. While they went off to take care of the Cephadrome (horribly, forgot it prefers Power to Speed), we decided to beat him to the punch and hunted down the Cephadrome ourselves... except the idiots arrived and lost control of their Barroth Ex and we had to fight it immediately after. Jegus. At least it's easy.

Oh huh didn't expect Cheval to still be a Rider. And flying on top of a Rathian to boot. Man I want to fly too, why can't my Rathian and Pink Rathian do that? Not that I can use a Pink Rathian yet. In any case Cheval saved us from Barroth Ex's death throes, but when he moved in for the kill we prevented him from doing so... why? I mean yeah it's mind controlled and all, but I slew a LOT of monsters already.

Anyway, we enter Albarax to find the village in ****ing ruins and Blight everywhere... and get attacked by the Black Fiend himself, a Blighted Diablos. Now this ****er hits hard, as expected, and I had to switch Monsties since Vriska couldn't handle it. But victory is mine, and the town is saved! And hell yeah I can use Rarity 4 Monsties now! Too bad the only Monstie I want to use is a Diablos with some sweet Genes. I did a few quests to completely restore Albarax to its former glory, and won the Bronze Tournament. AFTER losing horribly due to me not realizing that it uses a different Battle Party than my normal one (Velocidrome, Aptonoth, and Apceros team? Wow that was horrible). I am NOT touching the Silver Tournament, I barely even won Bronze even when I brought my strongest Monstie, Crimara the Red Khezu.

In any case, the Expedition feature is unlocked, and I managed to snag the Grand Felvyne needed to progress the story. We meet up with Lilia who is now a proper Scryvener, and we're to head back to Gildegaran to discuss or findings about the Blight.

Standard anime/JRPG logic. It's wrong to kill...except when it isn't. Except when it is. Basically I'm the protagonist so I'm always right, get it you fucking NPCs?

MHW Teostra is annoying. Who on earth thought it was a good idea to have a red monster with a red aura who leaves red stuff laying around that explodes into more red stuff while he shoots red stuff appear in a room with a red floor and red walls and more exploding red stuff? It baffles me that to this day, game developers still do shit like this where they get so proud of their visual design that they don't notice it makes actually playing the game obnoxious because you can't see shit.

That and his roar combo into death from a ways away. I hoped this would be the game that stopped having Teostra's entire "challenge" be built on a roar combo, but...well, he *is* tougher in general now, so I guess they got it half right.

Oh HELL YES I finally get to fly in Monster Hunter Stories

Gilding around way way above the field is the ****ing best

Trying to land on a REALLY small ledge is the ****ing worst... because I keep forgetting to use the Y button for precise flying.

Ratha the Rathalos is so great, in and out of battle. Anyway, now Ive got website that tells me EXACTLY where each Monsters spawns, so time to grind while I kill 15 of each and racking up sidequest monies

Oh it's still in the Stables. Even after my Kinship level rose post Black Fiend, I didn't find a room for her on my team. All she does is Den Search... which, admittedly, would be useful later on. Only Rarity 4 monster I switched in was Sollux the Diablos... who I pretty much only use to ROAR every last small fry away since Ratha is freakin' awesome.

Ratha's existence makes it hard to fit Pink Rathian onto your team, why bother when you have something so similar? Diablos is pretty awesome, hits like a truck and never dies

I haven't found teostra to be that bad. I can make out his attacks from the ground. Never even considered it could be considered an issue.

Haha yeah Diablos is like what Barroth wished it could be: a Tank that takes and dishes out hits instead of being a Wall that just takes it and doesn't do much damage.

Also, is there a trick to get the most out of hatching eggs? You know, those bonus thingies? Like a pattern or something so I can get the max bonus stats

That volcano area he spawns in on the first quest has so much red everywhere that I find it hard to keep track of him, especially when the eruptions are happening since if he's on the other side of one he's completely concealed. He's fine when he's not in an area he blends into so much.

World final boss status: Defeated. Actually a fun fight, which I wasn't entirely expecting after what Zorah indicated the developers idea of a cool boss fight was.

Also you can cultivate ivy now (well, tomorrow). Pitfall traps just got cheaper.

I really hope the new monster is more of a Mohran than a Zorah or Lao. And that it's not too obnoxious with a smaller number of players, I'm sure it will be easy to find dedicated hubs for it early on but it might get tough to get more than four or five people together at some point

Yeah it's a pretty solid quest. I was kind of caught off guard the first time I got to one of the open areas, I was expecting a boring Lao/Zorah crawl the whole way and then suddenly she decides she wants to fight for real

New Mon is fun, but it's annoying that, after six sieges, I've only got one rarity 8 weapon.

Also, it's super awkward when you screw up and fail a mission, because most times you've got to get back into a party with the same people again. And again and again...

All I've gotten of real value from Kulve is a bow that needs free element but would outclass the Kadachi bow with it, assuming you had the decorations. A shame I already have a Kadachi bow fully upgraded, couldn't have given me some sick fire bow to spare me the tedium of farming Anjanath who just never EVER drops fang+ for me? I did also get a pretty good pierce HBG but I've never really been much of a bowgun player.

Holy crap, how come nobody uses the hunting horn? I just picked it up and it's a blast. People kept saying that it was weak and only good for support, but with the attack buffs it gets crazy strong and I'm knocking pieces off Kulve like they were chunks of corn.
