Economics 101. If you make a commodity artificially expensive, you discourage its use. Leftists understand this when they want to understand it, like when they call for carbon taxes.

It's not like other pizza places are closing down. Papa John's simply isn't making a product people are willing to pay for. It's their fault.

Inflated labor costs hit the most vulnerable businesses first.

Clearly they aren't very good at running a business if an increase cost kills them completely.

A lot of people are giving Trump shit because a trade war will make particular commodities more expensive and endanger certain US companies. Just apply that logic here.

Those businesses aren't completely closing up shop. They'll deal with the increased price and sure that might mean laying off some workers.

Papa Johns is literally throwing the towel, because instead of changing their ways they would rather go out of business.

Again, this isn't corporate papa johns. This is a more than likely local franchise owner throwing in the towel.

I'm aware of what the case is here.

I'm saying that if other pizza businesses are still working and it's only Papa John's closing up, then it's their fault as the other pizza businesses are working around it.

If every pizza business went out of business then it would be an issue with the state's law.

Come on CE. Get full information before posting.

Rochester is shithole land and several hundred miles from NYC. You know, across the lake from Toronto.

Also it's a franchise, once again in Rochester. It's very easy to have things like minimum wage affect a franchise. One man owned all these shops.

Also, the minimum wage is slowly creeping up every year. Not all at once. So expect even more things, especially franchises, to close up shop.

I think one of the reasons people buy chain pizza in New York State is because chain places tend to be open later in places that arent big cities. I live in New Jersey but a lot of local places close around 10 on weekdays and maybe 11 or 12 on the weekend. So if youre high at 2 am on a Friday night, the places that are still open are most likely a Dominos or a Papa Johns

Papa John's would be a better example of the evils of the minimum wage if they also didn't play this same game with Obamacare, players kneeling, etc. The truth is that Papa John's suffers where other pizza places never seem to and they'll find any excuse they can as long as it's against "liberal policies".

Is that supposed to mean something? It's NYC pizza that's extremely good. Not NY State pizza.

I also don't get this elitist BS here with eating chain pizza. I'm in NYC and me and my friends still get Domino's or Papa John's. Not only are NYC slices like fucking $4, the chain food is still good food. With coupons, you can take home 2 pies for like $15.

Just because it doesn't compare to amazing pizza doesn't mean it isn't good pizza.

And as mentioned, chain pizza is open till 3. The rest close at 10 or 11. So people still get it and enjoy it.

Pretty much all pizza prices in Hawaii are one or two dollars more than the national advertised price.

You guys get a 9.99 take out for dominoes? We get 11.99.

Try to order a large pepperoni from Papa John's in Vegas: $15. Hawai'i: $21.

Also, it says right on their website that prices can vary by location, so that's not a big factor for Papa John's at least.

Classic Buffalo pizza. Doughy well seasoned crust. THICK layer of cheese with nice carmelization. Dense cup and char pepperonis. Delicious. Better than Brooklyn pizza imo.

Liberal economic policies in action. This is exactly what people said would happen to many businesses when the minimum wage was raised, and people just put their head in the sand.

Yep. What were minwage fans expecting?

Once again downstate dictates an unnatural price floor that drives people out, and more people are going to leave. NY deserves to lose congressional seats.

The truth is that Papa John's suffers where other pizza places never seem to
