subin was pretty young at debut, so it's not too surprising that she changed the most. and yeah, they definitely got better songs after e-tribe stopped producing for them.

ep 2/3 thoughts (bear with me, I don't know many names yet)

- The Japanese trainee with the husky voice ended up in F. I don't think they showed her revaluation video but was she really that bad?
- Ep 2 felt like mnet shilled the hell out of Sakura, didn't feel like an A performance (reminiscent of Somi's) but I guess she really does have talent to remain there and be voted the center. Although the preview for Ep 4 makes her look awful?
- The Japanese trainee that did warota people and also in Nio's video above fell to D I think, so theoretically little or no screen time in the Pick Me video but going back to watch the full version, I swear she was getting as much time as the A's.
- Is next week going to be the first elimination?

look, if bae yoon jung says sakura deserves an A then sakura deserves an A. but yeah, she was a good centre in the end so it doesn't really matter (not that it stops people from arguing about it). also the sakura/byj memes are good.

Yeah I can't believe people would give them hate for that. Just an excuse really. If anything blame Mnet for the system. In the immortal words of Jessi, this is a competition. And I certainly understand BBY2 for feeling down, but I fully expect them to get over it and give it their best (which I think they did), I don't think they need anyone to "protect" them. Support them, of course, but don't be stupid. Eh, maybe it's just immature kids.

yeah, i'm not a fan of the random draw. season 1 had the As form the teams so each team at least had an anchor.

the thing is there's also the meta-game, though. winning the battle doesn't get you much, and at the end of the day it's about winning hearts and minds. i don't think anything they said was actually that bad, but the way mnet juxtaposed the atmospheres of the 2 teams made it a lot worse and they couldn't have known that.

Exactly it's just drama. People need to just enjoy the drama for what it is. Unfortunately if you're a more casual viewer you don't see that.

Even like the drama with the Short Hair team (can't remember if they're 1 or 2) with Sian and the jp girls. I think that's one of the biggest dramas right now. Now I think they could have behaved better, but you also have to understand where the jp girls are coming from, too. They're not used to this crap, this is not how they do things, it's all new to them. That's why they would actually suggest playing rps for center. They don't even know how badly the trainers would chew them out if they did that, see.

So viewers see things but there's just so much subcontext underneath. It's bad enough as it is and then you have Mnet editing things, do we even need to go into that.

I can believe that now. It took me this long but I'm not trusting Mnet ever again. I can't believe they did that to Gyuri, they made her look like a spoiled brat. Talk about sacrificial lamb.

I just found out that Lee Hwi-Jae and his twins isn't going to be on Return of Superman anymore, and my heart kinda broke. I love them. And there's been so many really touching scenes with that family, and a lot of things I can relate to with my brothers when I was little. What really got me was when Hwi-Jae's dad started getting really bad dementia because my grandfather died of Alzheimer's, and I have lived through a couple different relatives losing their memory late in life.

I hope that family keeps doing great, they really are awesome

I'm sorry to hear. From the little I've watched of the show it looks very good, wish I had more time to watch it. If you like Hwijae maybe check out Heroes if you haven't, classic idol reality, very funny. He also had a show where he went around with his nephew, lol.

tbh i never followed ftisland that closely because i preferred cnblue's poppier sound to their rock ballads, and it felt like i was supposed to choose for some reason?

for cnblue, i liked them at debut, but they were better when FNC started letting them write their title tracks. for their japanese albums, 'code name blue' is great, as well as the next few, then i lost track of them there. for korean albums, 're:blue', and 'can't stop' are excellent, then after a few somewhat middling years, they came back with the song 'between us' which was new territory for them and one of my faves last year.

some specific songs: i'm a loner, love light, lie, in my head, i'm sorry (their best), can't stop, like a child, la la la, between us

for ftisland, i like a few of their old hits like i hope, i wish, and their biggest hit, severely. japanese-wise, i remember liking '20(twenty)' and 'top secret', but again, i never paid much attention to them (should probably fix that). they've been going harder in their recent korean albums though, so you should check out 'pray' and 'take me now'.
