I think that rituals can focus someone's mind or help to visualize problems. The reason I was interested in the book, though, is because I'm fascinated by folklore and the history of stuff like that. I got a BA in History and when I was considering going for my masters, one of the possible thesis topics I looked into was the history of witchcraft in Europe. This is a collection of new-age bull crap curated by someone with no academic qualifications, care for authenticity, or backing of historical relevance. It's one thing to write fiction under the pretense of fiction, it's another to peddle delusion as reality. Any human, frankly, should find that offensive. There is a reason the snake-oil salesman is distrusted, there is a reason the fortune-teller is shunned, and there is a reason conman is reviled.
