We all know by now that a lot of non-americans play americans in several movies and tv shows...but some of them just can't pull it off..sometimes they can get away with it in some movies, others they can't..Canadian actors are pretty much the only ones who don't have to alter their accents..

There's 2 actors i can name who should never play an american again...Liam Neeson and Jason Statham..but yet they continue to play "americans" even though their accent sucks and it's so irritating...

Who else can you name?

Boston accents are typically done horribly. From Boston myself, and most actors overdo it.

Julianne Moore did an awful job in 30 Rock, but I'm pretty sure she was doing an awful job on purpose, as a joke. She gets a pass from me.

Pretty much every major actor in The Departed butchers the accent.

Blake Lively in The Town does a horrendous job.

Tim Robbins in Mystic River.

Tom Hanks in that one movie, can't recall the title, but his accent was atrocious.

There's more. It's more common that an actor will fuck the accent up than they'll nail it.

Some good examples of actors who do a decent job would be Jeremy Renner in The Town, and Christian Bale in The Fighter. Oh, and Amy Adams does a decent job in Gone Baby Gone.

Charlie Hunnam in Sons of Anarchy. Not horrible but a little odd at times. Overall I actually liked him in that role.

No, it's Catch Me If You Can. It's actually so horrendous that I swear he was going for comedic performance. He just gave no fucks.

But I thought Tim Robbins' accent was good in Mystic River. Sean Penn's was great. It was Kevin Bacon who had the bad accent in that movie.

And as much I love Leo, his accent in the Departed wasn't his best..."I am Nowt a Cowp!"

I've heard many actors/actresses have terrible imitations of accents. Not just American.

*hat tip*

I stand corrected. Thank you.

Related: Hearing Simon Pegg, of all people, with an American accent in Ready Player One was ... a little bizarre.

I think he does have an accent in Road to Perdition as well but it's not nearly as bad as Catch Me

My partner has a thing for him and really enjoyed him as Jax so after SoA was done I showed her Green Street Hooligans and she said "what a terrible accent, you can barely understand what he's saying".
She wasn't too happy with the amount that I laughed or how often I bring that story up lol

Tom Hanks in Catch Me If You Can: MUH. NAHME. IS. CORRAL. HAANRADDY!
The Departed was terrible for a multitude of other reasons, most of all because it was a shameless rip off of an already great movie.

It just occurred to me that he is not supposed to be American in that movie, anyway. He is a French secret agent.
