Pizza is not my favorite of all time (that would be a tossup between sushi and pasta) but it's pretty close. I love pizza so much. As someone born and raised in the city of Chicago (NOT a suburb) pizza is very near and dear to my heart. My three favorites are:

3. Stuffed pizza from Giordano's



2. Pizza margherita from a place called Di Matteo in Naples



1. Thin crust square cut pizza (from lots of places but two of my favorites are Father & Son and Aurelio's)



Note I'm not trying to say these are the best, just my personal favorite. Obviously I am biased in favor of the ones I grew up eating.

Sure. But it taste different. And it's still technically different. I could have Cream Garlic Penne Pasta or Fetteccine Alfredo. Both are pasta dishes, but still different enough... Pizza can totally change taste base on the sauce used, cheese, and toppings.

That's why it's called penne alla bolognese, not pasta alla bolognese

Pats can refer to the type of food or the ingredient. And some pasta actually does have pasta in the name. Sure, there's not a Pasta Hut, but there are places that probably only serve pasta. In the end, you're still acting like all Pizza is the same. It is all pizza, but it can still be different from each other. As you said earlier, you can have pepperoni pizza and a Hawaiian pizza the next night. Both pizza. It you can have 2 different types of pasta. Both pasta.

You can have pizza taste completely different from each other just like pasta. For pasta, you can used a different type of pasta, sauce, and whatever else. And it taste different. You can do the same for pizza. Use a different sauce, a different cheess(some people even get not cheese), different toppings, bread, and style and it can taste completely different. To most people, that makes a dish not basic.
