I'm getting seriously fed up with this medical industry.

My son fell and busted his head open. We went to the urgent care for stitches. This is something they should be able to handle.

They admit us and take his temp and vitals. The doctor comes in and looks at it and determines that they can't handle it there and I need to go to the ER.

We go there and pay ~$500 after insurance to the Er.

A month later we get a bill from the urgent care detailing that they charged $230 for ' emergency services' and $300 for professional fees.

This seems fucking criminal to me. We were there less than 30 minutes. I get that we could owe a small fee, but no way am I paying that much. How much do unpaid med bills hurt your credit?

still BS but that is how hospitals work. they charge you for using the emergency room and for services.
in 10th grade i had to get 3 stitches inbetween the webbing of my hand. wasn't fun at all.

i got cut pretty good by glass.

This is a separate location. I paid the ER bill already. This is from the urgent care.

Seriously though, call the billing department and say you can't pay that. They'll cut the price significantly.

you could try to dispute but this wouldn't bring an end, they will get money somehow >< even if they try to sell the debt to the bill collectors.

My kid's deductible is already met. I have less an issue with the insurance company and more an issue with the abusive billing by the urgent care.
I'll have to see what they reduce it to

Well this statement claims that they are paying nothing for the urgent care. No clue why. Now I'll have to sit on hold for hours between the urgent care and insurance just to try and understand what's happening
