That's why I tell them to just leave my hairline alone. Every single barber attacks my widow's peak like they're a butcher and they push my hairline up so far it looks like I'm balding. Then when I go and get a touch up they'll insist on taking a razor to it so it looks even more fresh, only all they end up doing is just pushing it back even further and further in an attempt to razor off some hairs that you'd need a microscope to even notice in the first place.

But yeah, I agree with the whole talking thing. There was this one barbershop in my city that everyone used to swear by. They took forever to finish their cuts cause the barbers would always sit there and just chit chat. One time I sat in the chair for like an hour just for a fade cause my barber insisted on walking away to talk to his buddies that walked through the door just to hangout, then he'd take phone calls and would talk to even more friends, then he'd start eating while cutting my hair cause he had some food heating up in the microwave, then a bootlegger walked in the door to sell some DVDs and he'd walk away cause he hadn't seen Atlantic Rim yet and had to see what all the fuss was about.

Haven't found a black barbershop. Had a nice hole in the wall place that got too popular. Owner ended up buying a location downtown and then a chain of shops there too. Prices went from 20 to 35.

Then I found 2 hipster-ish places. One was ok and the other had a barber I liked which is great except the other barbers were trash and one I swear is racist.

Then I found a shop with mostly Latino barbers. Good cut and it's only 21 dollars.

All prices without tip. Usually give 5 though.

Back when I actually got my hair done I went to the most stereotypical white barber shop ever. 3 TVs stacked on each other with only 1 working playing either sports or bonanza. A giant Confederate flag on the wall. My barber was called shaky sam. He was like 70 years old and always smoking and his hands shook like a leaf. I was very young when we started going there and he was always talking shit about the party store on the corner because it was always rife with bums and ghetto trash that would get drunk and stumble into his place and pass out in a chair.
