So, I played Area 51 (2005) for the first time in 13 years. It was 480p on Xbox I believe. I bumped it up to 1080p on PC, although I heard it goes up to 4K.

It made the HUD really tiny. But supported widescreen, when most games from the 6th generation did not even do that, so no stretching at all.

Anyway, the HUD was tiny as hell, and tucked away at the corners of the screen, when the console releases had the HUD take up more screen space, as seen here:

Look at how small it is on PC when played at 1080p:

Anyway, I love it when old games are optimized to the point where I can plug in any resolution on it, without it distorting, albeit, with the HUD way too damned small.

Feel like that's what the dreamcast did without the shrinking hud. It had some of the best looking games of its time, topping the computer in some cases

That's because the Dreamcast had specs better than the PS2 had.

If it had 2 extra shoulder buttons, a second analog stick, had those sticks being able to click in, and had DVD playback, it would have sold a lot more units.
