It's about as scary as a gaming experience can get. Especially if the alien catches you, since you have to watch the final moments of your death from a first-person perspective.

It's not very scary but it's tension is fantastic.
Well at least for the first half, it is too long and gets samey. But its a rock solid game. Despite some flaws the AI for the Alien is genuinely quite good and it makes traversing the ship feel like you're one wrong move away from dying. My only beef was the reliance on non-alien enemies. It was fun at time to lure things to the alien, but I wanted a more one on one survival experience.

Well yeah but the game wouldn't go anywhere if you could just leave the alien behind in the first room and never see her again The point is while the alien is in the area it's dynamic and realistic enough that you can't instantly outsmart it like the braindead AI of most video games. You actually have to use effort. game is alright, tense at times but tbqh the androids are so annoying it became unplayable to me --- ^ Hey now that's completely unfair. https://imgtc.com/i/14JHfrt.jpg ... The Alien is a fucking chore to deal with. It literally follows you into every single room so it just turns into a game of move from one closet to the next. Would be a much more intense experience if the Alien fucked off every now and again.

It's actually a sad story (the movie-verse that is) Originally the script was that her daughter was going to be alive. Then Ripley was going to call her at the end of the movie and as an old lady she was going to be really angry at Ripley for "abandoning" her. But they scrapped it and re-wrote it so the daughter was already dead and died just before Ripley woke up. AND THEN they cut the entire scene from the movie which pissed off Sigourney Weaver and destroyed the set up for why Ripley is so obsessed with Newt. A really weird and sad story, typical of the alien franchise. It was clever for the Isolation game Devs to pick the daughter as a character to play with because it meant they could play with the universe and yet not fuck up any canon --- ^ Hey now that's completely unfair. https://imgtc.com/i/14JHfrt.jpg ... Would be a much more intense experience if the Alien fucked off every now and again. That's exactly what I mean. just a few moments to breathe so I can properly explore is all I'd like. I get why they made it the way they did; the constant sense of dread is realistic to the source material, but for a game it becomes exactly like you said; a chore. --- GABBA GABBA HEY Outta the sky, into the dirt ... It pretty much does, though. The alien will generally be in the same part of the station as you, but it will rarely drop down from the ducts unless you're running around or making a lot of noise. You don't even need to crouch everywhere like some people think, just normal walking is fine for most of the game. --- - The Admiral ... Copied to Clipboard!

If you sayso Personally I found that Maybe it was breath of fresh air in the sense that the game stopped being tense or a challenge but I kinda liked the challenge and tenseness. And the game was overlong as it was I feel like you could cut those parts out and lose close to nothing. Maybe they should have introduced new hazards or something, like smoke in the room made it hard to breathe but didn't effect androids --- ^ Hey now that's completely unfair. https://imgtc.com/i/14JHfrt.jpg ... the frequency it shows up make it less scary and more frustrating. had they made it show up a LITTLE more seldom (think Lisa in P.T.), my reaction would be more "oh FUCK! fuck fuck fuck!" as opposed to "ugh, for fuck's sake.."

I hated the few scripted kills. There's a point where instead of blocking off a hallway, they make it so if you attempt to use a certain path the alien pops out of nowhere to instant kill you. There's no way to know that before it happens and there's often no way the alien could actually get there from the last point you saw it.

There's no way to know that before it happens and there's often no way the alien could actually get there from the last point you saw it. Are you sure about this? There are certain areas where the alien is scripted to be out of the ducts patrolling, but no scripted kills that I remember. The closest thing is if you pass under a vent that the alien is hiding in, but there is always drool dripping from it. I agree that the alien seems to get to those points rather quickly, but those are still random and are avoidable if you just don't pass underneath. --- - The Admiral ... Copied to Clipboard!
