Not looking forward to any new movies, can't watch the old ones. Completely destroys the franchise and its history on a grand scale. Can't even play the games anymore.

The rebels in the OT could kinda sorta scrap with the Empire on a regular basis

Everyone has their reasons for disliking the movie, for me it poops on the lore and the unwritten rules of the universe.
Ship battles are no longer necessary
Planetary Shields are no longer a threat
And you can just skip leg day when it comes to training in the ways of the Force. ( yes I know the movie explains why)

-Anticlimatic villain confrontations save Kylo Ren vs. Luke
-Idiotic main plot that resulted from miscommunication that resulted from "fuck you I know better"
-Head-shakingly bad explanation for Kylo Ren turning to the dark side that completely killed Luke's character in the process
-Lot of time spent in the fancy casino land that ultimately accomplished nothing
-Rey going to Luke for help ultimately did nothing in the whole movie but buy them time to escape towards the end

Honestly, why the fuck was Luke ever touted as some kind of super hero that could save the resistance?

It was weird, like...Lukes biggest claim to fame was blowing up the first Death Star, no? Not anything he did as a Jedi. Lando and the rest blew up the second Death Star, and Leai and Han were the ground force that took out the Shields.

Luke was just inside the Death Star dealing with his own personal shit. Him fighting Vader didn't actively help the Rebels in any way.

So like...why is he considered some mythical character just on the basis of being a Jedi? Did everyone just assume he went in there and killed the Emperor or what?

Yeah, but they didn't know he was dealing with them hence it wasn't an active help to them at the moment. Luke fighting Vader/distracting the Emperor was not an active part of the battle plan, you know?

It just kind of feels weird in hindsight. Maybe Luke did more shit with his Jedi powers that we didn't see after RotJ but before he became a teacher that would have made him seem more mythical, but it just feels like the idea of Luke being a mythical person was the wrong choice to make.

Kind of like how making Vader space jesus was kind of a dumb move to make in hind sight.

It's been a while since I saw both films, but was it the resistance that made a big deal about Luke or just Leia?

I dunno, it is kind of weird now thinking about it but at the same time Luke was able to go into hiding just fine so I feel like he wasn't *as* mythical as he sounded to the greater galaxy.

A new generation is going to fall in love with *this* Star Wars series, just as another generation fell in love with the Prequels. (remember when *they* killed the franchise)

Unless a Star Wars movie flat out bombs, it's not going to kill the franchise. Nerds can cry about Social Justice, Purple Hair, Bad Military Tactics and toy sales all they want, the fact is TLJ still did over a billion dollars world wide, which is better than Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith when adjusted for inflation I'm pretty sure.

The PT toys sold very well as people liked the jedi, the sith, the clone troopers, and the Clone Wars era.

There is no one boys can root for in new SW, they made it a feminist agenda push and the younger generation does not care about that crap.

The OT and PT still exist, its easy to ignore the disney films and not pay any attention to them.

Disney Star Wars is dying but the films and EU material that is pre TFA is still loved, the EU also has a wave of new fans because people hate what the ST has done.

I thought it was pretty decent when I left the theater. But the more I thought about it, the more I hated the movie. Then I saw this:

And I've pretty much been convinced that it's probably the worst written SW movie. That said, I still prefer it to TFA because TFA was really boring to me. At least TLJ had some scenes that were decent fun to watch on their own, without context.

Other toys are still selling well, marvel, dc, transformers, but SW toys have been rotting on shelves for a long time.

Check out the youtube vids and see the facts with the sales charts, the ST sucks and even the kids know it.

When Rey and Rose Tico are two of the least selling toys for SW that is telling.

Princess Leia and Padme did not have trouble in toy sales.

Kids don't buy the toys though, it's parents and collectors who do.

Maybe collectors are pissed off, sure, but the real problem is that Hasbro and Disney seem to not understand that you can't keep producing the same bunch of figures for 4 years straight and expect them to keep selling.

There is also the issue with how cheap they have gotten with these toys while increasing the price every year.

World Class Bullshitters and others point this shit out all the time, but seem to forget about it the second they need to look to toy sales as the key to Star Wars being a dead franchise.

If they have no clue that Luke is on the Death Star doing anything, then how the hell do they know that he's helping them?

The only person that had any idea IIRC, was Leia because he said goodbye to her before he turned himself into Vader.

Lando and the rest didn't know anything except he wasn't there and it was them against the Empire.

Yes kids do buy the toys. collectors do make up some of the consumer base but kids make up a good chunk of it as well which is why merchandising has always been the major money maker for SW.
