Hugh Jackman has moved on, not much anticipation for Dark Phoenix, which was moved to 2019...

I mean they're all gonna be rebooted under Disney anyway and the direction Fox is taking with the X-Men isn't great so meh

Watched most of them, but was never a real fan.

Watched as in a year later when they premiere on cable TV.

New Mutants is going to be trash. Not gonna go see that.
Dark Phoenix is being directed by Simon Kinberg himself (his directorial debute) so that's definitely going to be trash but I'm going to see it just to see how bad he fuck it up.
I'm skeptical about Deadpool 2. I have a feeling it won't be very good but I'm still going to check it out.

Fox's X-Men films have always been hit or miss to me overall. Even the good ones have issues I have with them.

I have for the most part. Days of Future Past didn't really do it for me and Apocalypse looked like a turd so I skipped it. First Class did not hold up well to me on a re-watch so I'm pretty down on that movie as well.

Logan was fucking excellent tho

X-Men Apocalypse killed the series. Should have ended it with Days of Future Past.

It's a shame too because Apocalypse is a cool villain.

I enjoy them generally but Hugh Jackman was one of the best parts of each movie. The push for R rating made the movies less appealing to me, even though Logan was one of the best superhero movies period, again that was due to Stewart and Jackman and their top acting.

My faves have been X2 days of future past and Logan. I don't think I will see the rest of the fox movies that are planned.

my thoughts exactly. DOFP finally got it right and then AOA brought it right back to X3 status.

Can't argue with that. Well, or end it with Logan, but we didn't need AoA.

The biggest problem with the Fox X-Men movies is that you have a superhero property based around a TEAM, yet every single movie they manage to make a single mutant the focus of it all, usually to the detriment of other fan-favorites.

On top of that, they don't even feel like a family. Everybody is just there. Every once in a while, somebody will do a thing and you're like, "Oh hey, it's that character."
And that's probably the most we'll get from that character.

the X-Men movie franchise does have the honor of featuring the most unstoppable, ruthless enemies ever seen in a superhero movie. That of course being the Future Sentinels. I'm still haunted by how brutal the deaths were of some of the future X-Men.

not quite all, but close. still haven't watched Logan or Apocalypse. will go see Deadpool 2, though, and the Dark Phoenix story is probably my favorite. So I'm kinda obligated to watch that one.

but yeah, I'm just waiting for the news that Fox is done with them and Disney is taking over. I just hope it doesn't hurt Legion (and the Gifted, if I ever get around to it)

I welcome any X-movies without Wolverine, Prof X, Magneto, or Mystique. I very much appreciate that more obscure mutants are getting screen time in Legion, The Gifted, and New Mutants.

Everything being about either Mystique or Logan bother me. I get Logan but Mystique. Fuck that shit. There are so many other cool ladies in the X-men world you have to spend time on her. And the actress clearly doesn't put any effort into anything. I don't know if she is dating people behind the camera or they just want to use her big name but damn.

Somewhat. DoFP is one of my favorite superhero movies period. Logan was great. And honestly I liked Apocalypse (tho it had plenty of problems), but I don't really care much about the new cast and without Hugh it just seems like we've entered a new phase that I'm not a part of.

It's really just time for a reboot. Trying to tie these back to the originals just feels so wrong at this point.

Do you think the role was made bigger because of the actress, or that was the plan all along before even casting her?

It was obviously because of Jennifer Lawrence because Rebecca Romijn was merely a side character in X1 and X2.

The only thing keeping the current franchise going for me interest-wise is McAvoy and Fassbender. Though tbh, while most of Apocalypse was harmless at worst, the ending really soured me: the complete lack of consequence in which the mansion gets put back together like friggin' Legos and Xavier having nothing negative to say to Erik after Erik laid waste to the globe and clearly murdered thousands if not millions of people in the process. I feel like the latter really sours their moral back-and-forth going forward in the franchise if Xavier's going to let something like that completely slide.
