Ugh, that list is so disappointing My favorite most recent winner was probably No Country For Old Men, but it just barely is no longer inside the decade. I like Slumdog well enough though, and Shape of Water was really good, albeit not even my favorite Del Toro film. I've only seen Slumdog Millionaire and it was alright. Honestly, I'm so sick of Oscar-Bait that I just sort of ignore anything that even remotely smells of Oscar ambition. It's always the same; take some current social issue, wrap it in melodrama, attach some famous people, dole out a slow plot that moves like molasses, and end with some big moral lesson about how to solve the problem or what it means to be human or something vague and vapid like that.
Except for Shape of Water. That actually looks good. It might just be that I've never seen a Del Toro film I didn't enjoy. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Guess I gotta go with Argo, since it's the only one I've seen all the way through. It did happen to be based on my favorite real-life espionage story, and Bryan Cranston delivered one of his best lines ever in it: 'We're a fucking spy agency and we don't know where the vice president is?!'
