First-degree murder carries an automatic sentence of life with 25 years before being eligible for parole. It was relatively recently that the criminal code was changed to allow such sentences to be applied consecutively, such that the guy who shot up a mosque a couple years ago is potentially facing 150 years (625) before eligibility for parole, or possibly only 25 if they apply his sentences simultaneously (which I don't see happening, dude's a dink). --- This is my signature.
