Are people really blown away by the ending? Everyone who disintegrated is obviously going to be revived in the next movie.

Shit I wouldnt even be surprised if Loki came back.

It's called suspension of disbelief. The characters in the movie don't know that, and that's where the emotion and drama comes from.

I cant suspend my disbelief when they go out of their way to make it obvious, warmachine getting crippled was heartbreaking because shit, they actually did make an effort in that scene, but he's there doing shit again because lol.

So of course I would not give a shit when a bunch of people that when they dont even make the war machine kind of effort to actually suspend my disbelief, NO STAKES ULULU

I mean I enjoyed it at the time, but yes it was always in the back of my mind that everyone getting fizzled out was coming back, so it did hurt the luster a little.

I still expect those who died outside the snap (loki included) to be permanent, as well as more permanent deaths in A4, so yeah you do kinda have to suspend disbelief for another year.

What are you talking about, Rhodes is clearly still crippled. He is using a device to help him walk and even then he's not getting around easily.

Even non-comic fans should see it coming given some of the vanished. Characters like Drax, Manits, Falcon, Bucky, and Scarlet Witch might conceivably be permanent to clear an already full table of characters, but Spider Man and Black Panther? It's a testament to how well the scene was played that people can still suspend disbelief at the loss of a couple of the biggest characters in the last year.

Well keep in mind it's Disney, and tons of little kids see these movies as well. Sure most adults with any common sense know that most of them will come back, but it was still at least somewhat of a risky move. I agree that it shouldn't really be hyped as much as it is, or "blowing" anyone away, definitely a bit of over reacting going on.

Before seeing the movie, I had people hyping the ending as very sad and "no one in the theater had a dry face", so I was expecting a big heroic death scene of someone like Captain America or Iron Man. Then Vision died, and I said "that better not be it, who cares about Vision?"

Then everyone started fading away, and not for a second did I think they were dying until maybe halfway in and thought "wait, do people think these characters are dying and that's why everyone is sad?". If that really was them actually dying, it was the worst, most anticlimactic death scene of a protagonist('s) I've ever seen in my life. At least go out fighting Thanos like a hero, not randomly withering away for unknown reasons.

But I also don't care about Marvel movies so I have no attachment to any of the characters.

Randomly as in who "dies". Why certain characters over others, as far as I know, isn't explained. And yes we know it's Thanos and the stones doing it, obviously. But why withering away? Where are they going? It's a power not seen until this point so there are questions.

And yes I know there's another movie to answer them.

The heroes disappearance was *technically* random even though the OG Avengers team remained. But nonetheless Thanos explains he had a random system of genocide back on Titan. Didn't matter if you were rich or poor, young or old, your time was up if you drew the short straw. Pay attention to the movie next time.

Yeah they are chosen at random. The withering away is just a dramatic way to show them dying.

I had a moment, when T'Challa vanished, where I thought to myself, "oh, okay, this is going to be undone." But I immediately got sucked back in by the reactions of the surviving characters.

Infinity War surprised me more than it should have, probably, given how much it adapted from the comics. Regardless, I don't care for stories that are randomly unpredictable just for unpredictability's sake. I prefer stories that are smartly, poetically constructed. Infinity War (building on the movies that came before it) is the latter type of story.

I think a big part of it, too, is how well the scene of everyone withering away was done. The choice to cut music and just let natural sound fill the space (so that it was mostly silent) made it very disconcerting, and very heartbreaking as a result especially given the people who witnessed their friends loss (Cap and Bucky, Rocket and Groot, Tony and Peter/Strange, Okoye and TChala)

I liked this

I also liked how the opening "comic book flip marvel logo" thing didn't have the normal theme music

that's how you knew shit was going down
