A few apps I want on there that aren't on PS4. $40 does my seem too bad. Never had anything like this.

I think the appeal is supposed to be if you do all the stuff that makes you get free movies and all that stuff from it.

Should just get an Xbox One S or X. Firestick, UHD player, and gaming console all in one.

Kodi is on Xbox One now.

It makes for a very convenient device to plug in and either watch Netflix or set up Plex. I use it on one TV for the latter and it works like a charm. Realistically though just about any device you have plugged in to a TV can probably also run either of those apps, lol.

Ended up getting it. Question.

I know what Kodi IS....but isn't installing sonething like that on a stick directly tied into my Amazon account a bit risky?

I had one, but it was not very good at all for some reason. It had problems with WiFi for whatever reason and would constantly have to buffer and stuff. Switched to a Roku and havent had a single issue with it. Maybe my FireStick was defective or something

There's zero risk in putting Kodi on there, but Plex is downloadable from the official app store and does everything Kodi does but better, so you don't really need to.

Kodi and Plex are the same type of application - it's not like they're a pirate version of Netflix or anything per se, they construct a database from your own collection. So you can take all of your movies wherever they come from and whip them into a Netflixy interface that you can stream via your stick.

99.9% of my files are mkv and Plex handles them perfectly.

Same. Depends on what you are playing it on of course though. I play straight through my smart TV.
