There's literally hundreds of videos of people going up to girls in public places, while they are reading, in a group, eating, etc. They get their number/having a genuine conversation with that person. Its social collaboration. If she doesn't want to talk to you, she will let you know in like 4 seconds.

the guys actually right for two reasons, one is that yes a lot of women are uncomfortable in public due to the fear of getting harassed or sexually assaulted and the other reason is that its good to not talk to women in public unless she gives you an invitation signal. times have changed and because of feminism its the womens job to give the green light, because if you dont you can have a scene made and/or get labeled as a creep.

Honestly, and I am a young man to let you know, but between a pleasant conversation and reading a book, I could go either or. That book will always be there, but as an introverted college kid, I do enjoy the bits of conversation I can get. And if I don't wanna talk I simply reflect that in my mannerisms.

Where'd you get that statistic from? Your local town hall, or did you call CNN and ask for their reports on the subject? If you suck at communicating, or are otherwise boring to talk to, then they probably don't want to talk to you. But if you are engaging and more entertaining than the book, then I fail to see how you can't see the value exchange.
