Lapis episode was whatever. I'm sick of Lapis waffling back and forth between being loyal to her friends or herself. Obviously going to result in her coming back to save everyone at some point, but that was a given anyways so who cares? worst gem

Pearlception was great and the Pink Diamond stuff was a looooong time coming so it's great to see it finally happen.

I have such mixed feelings on this.

On the one hand the reveal was great. I've speculated for a long time that if you reorient the gem in Rose's belly button you could theoretically have a diamond shaped gem, but after seasons of them portrayed as different individuals, even going as far as to show them talking with each other in Garnet's story I decided that theory was stupid like most others. And you know what? It still is. Dammit, it goes beyond shape shifting...

Being able to reorient your gem shouldn't be able to change the type of gem you are. How would PD even know she could do that? No other gem has shown that ability. I mean it all makes sense now why Steven and Rose's abilities are so damn OP because they're actually a fucking DIAMOND or a half of one. It's brilliant and infuriating, but also this makes PD/Rose irredeemable in my eyes.

This bitch started a war, ensuring the death of friend and family alike all because she didn't want to do her original duty anymore. And instead of owning up to this she ran away from her problems and faked her own death. The corruption beam then manipulated what was left of her allies outside a few, and instead of containing or curing these gems that were willing to die for her cause she runs away AGAIN and makes Steven. Holy crap she is not a good person and never was, but I'll be damned if that reveal wasn't amazing.

I agree about Rose, I think it was very much their intention to show Rose in a negative light with this episode.

Honestly my impression of Rose has been getting more negative over time, and I think that's an intentional thing the writers were doing, so it feels like a progression of that instead of a 180.

I don't know when it started but it was going on at least since Bismuth (who did nothing wrong).

Boy is Jasper going to have a field day with this if she is ever healed. Lapis too. Heck pretty much everyone if its really laid out the way it looks.

If I got this right PD's deal basically boiled down to:

-Wahh I want my own planet to prove I'm a big deal diamond like my sisters!
-Cool I got a planet to colonize! Time to prove myself
-Huh sure does look neat out there...
-I'm gonna disguise myself and explore this planet!
-Hey this place is actually kinda neat the way it is
-Wait if I colonize it then all the things living here already are screwed
-M-Maybe I can back out...Nah that won't work
-I got it! Maybe if I get those who feel the way I do to fight off "PD's" forces then she'll have a valid excuse to not destroy the planet!
-Fuck that didn't work and now my sisters are sending some forces of their own. Gotta double down on this!
-Hoo boy a lot of my subjects are dying because of this charade...gotta think of something.
-I GOT IT! I'll just fake my own death! Then my sisters will totally fuck off from this planet. This was just a project to shut me up anyway! They don't care about me too much so it should be fine! This is totally going to work
-HOLY FUCK I WAS WRONG I WAS HORRIBLY WRONG!
-Apparently my sisters were so pissed over me "dying" that they literally nuked the planet and mutated pretty much every gem into horrible monstrosities excluding the three I just happened to be with at the time
-Okay...okay...at least its all over now! Well aside from cleaning up the mad mutated abominations that used to be my former subjects / war buddies (a war that I kinda started with myself) that is!
-Things are relatively cool now!
-Boy I want some dick
-Hey the idea of having a kid with a human sounds cool!
-Wait that'll kill me? Meh still worth it! Dat Universe dick man!

Holy crap what an episode(s)!! I knew there was some kind of connection to PD but I didn't really expect this! Ugh, this show is the worst because now we gotta sit here twirlitng our thumbs until the feel bad enough for us to release some new episodes.

Well they released a promo saying new episodes this summer so the wait won't be long, comparatively speaking.

It's pretty sad how much they've fucked up the pacing of the series

For some reason I thought we knew Rose was PD already, or it was heavily hinted. Either way, this didn't feel too surprising of a reveal. Pearl's involvement was more surprising. The gaps between these story beats are soooo long I just can't have much of a coherent analysis. Like what is even the implication of this? It's not like it changes anything.

Also while catching up I finally watched Kamina Lars episodes and damn Lars makes a good Kamina (technically Simon I guess).

The most notable effect it has on the story is that the shattering of Pink Diamond is the motivation for just about every antagonist in the series. It's Jasper's reason for existing, its Bismuth's greatest pride (which is now a lie), and it's why the Diamond's still have their eyes on earth.

I guess what I mean there is that it doesn't change or add any motivations, it only negates a bunch of stuff that happened in the past (which kinda sucks). I guess it depends how Garnet and Amethyst react.

We have a promo hinting at Garnet's reaction. Ruby and Sapphire are so torn on it that they fall apart and the latter warps off to who knows where? Ruby seemed pretty cool about it for once, I guess because she realized that were it not for Rose doing what she did Garnet would never be a thing, but Sapphire is probably all I GAVE UP EVERYTHING FOR NOTHING- MY HOME, MY STATUS, MY FUTURE AND AUGH SHE USED ME
