Rules:

The game is also magically returned to the height of its popularity if it had online play.

All DLCs/expansions included...

But no mods.

And no being cheeky, compilation games don't count.

I think I'd honestly have to go with We Love Katamari. It's simple, the skill ceiling is quite high when you get into it, and the charm and style is wonderful (especially that soundtrack!). I think it really defines what a good video game is. Instant gameplay, focus on replayability and fun, nothing trying to charade as "an experience" either. It's just a good, no BS kind of game.

I was pissed about PSO 2 not being localized, but since this is a fantasy thread I will say a localized, english PSO 2.

Man, I'm kind of sick of this question. I mean, realistically I'd probably just stop playing video games entirely if I was faced with this possibility. I think there are two main schools of thought for this - either you pick a game with "infinite" content, or something that you can replay over and over, but that doesn't mean you can't get tired of them. If that's all that you have, I imagine most people would get tired of it rather quickly.

It's possible. That's why I would choose a Rogue like game. It could last longer. And you can stop when you get tired of it and pick it up again later when you're ready to play a game again...

Yeah but I'm not attached to any one game so strongly that I'd feel a reason to bother continuing with it. Or rather, maybe I'm attached to much more than one game, so rather than having to make that choice, I'd just give up the hobby entirely and do something better with my life.

Some games have pretty competitive scenes as well, where people will be playing them for decades. Normal replays can wear thin eventually, but PvP is often constantly evolving.

I don't see it that often, tbh...

And I can understand being attached to a lot of games. But it seems weird to just give it up completely. You have that one game you can play whenever. So, go find something productive to do in life. And when you need something to do, you can play that one game. Haha. I know I couldn't personally give up games just because I had only one...

Assuming I get the shit for free, maybe MtG. One of the biggest reasons I quit was cost. Granted, the game's gone to hell since I quit so... idk.

Then again, if I was getting free materials, I might want to just go with Warhammer. However, I'd probably spend far more time building sets than playing.

Nice, I don't often see people going with 4 as one of their favorites, it's usually THUG. 4 was my favorite out of all the ones I've played.

@SteamedHams
Yeah, the question certainly is played out, but I think I was also looking at it like "I'm not going to play video games as much as I used to if this were the case." I think that also reflects on people's answers, like people choosing WoW or TES are probably going to be playing every day still, whereas I know I'd only play once or twice a week.

Grand Theft Auto IV Complete

Loved the online for that. Just grab a car, drive around and cause havoc. You could do structured modes if you wanted to but you could also just fuck around for hours and hours in free mode. Best part was free mode had no bounties, levels, grinding for shit AND you could shut off friendly fire, which shut down any PvP types quickly.

It was the first game that got me into online gaming with Minecraft also playing a huge part later on.
