When I saw it and heard the line I thought that it was probably ad libbed in because even though its like one of my favorite parts of the movie Im not 100% sure it really fit in with drax character.

five minutes before the scene (or after idk) he was eating chips while bragging about being so still nobody could see him. i feel like that line was perfectly in character considering the context of him in the rest of the film

I feel like Drax, being the literalist, would say "what is Gamora?" and go on a small rant about not knowing what species he is.

I can see this working also. I do think "why" makes sense because they are saying, "I'll do you one better," and positing broader and broader questions, so Drax interprets this as the necessary question to ask.

Either was fine.

But the best sequence was back-to-back-to-back.

"This is my friend, Tree."
"I am Groot."
"I am Steve Rogers."

Steve Rogers consistently gets some of the best lines in these movies and it's going to be a damn shame to see him go after A4.

IW spoilers: It really, really makes that one scene in Infinity War just a total gut punch. A lot of kids who see these characters as real-life heroes don't understand what was going on; they don't go "okay there's a sequel in a year and of course Spiderman or Drax are too important to kill off. Spiderman dying was just the worst. There were 3 year-olds in my theater dressed in costume that had their whole world crushed.

The kids will be just fine. I'm really tired of seeing people online whining about this, not saying you are but I see a lot of moms say "WHY WOULD THEY MAKE THE MOVIE LIKE THIS."

It's good for kids to see that sometimes the heroes don't win.

Doctor Strange: "Let me ask you this one time. What master do you serve?"

Star-Lord: " What master do I serve? What am I supposed to say, Jesus?"

Iron Man: "You're from Earth."

Star-Lord: "I'm not from Earth. I'm from Missouri."

Iron Man: "Yeah that's on Earth, dipshit."

That entire exchange is gold.

Also...

Thor: The Avengers, Earth's mightiest heroes...

Mantis: Like Kevin Bacon?

Thor: I haven't been back in a while, he might be on the team.

I really like what someone on here said that the reason Spiderman was the only one like talking about not feeling well before time was because his spider senses were going crazy and was getting overwhelmed

The line requires too much like situational awareness of the conversation. Drax tells a lot of non jokes or just his lines are funny because of how clueless he is a lot of times. This felt like a joke he did on purpose.

Nah, he was pissed off coz Iron Man had gotten the better of him and was just following the line of questioning.

Yeah, this. It fits him perfectly because it's quite literally elevating the line of questioning, which is Drax's entire thing, taking things too literal. He was trying to out-do Iron Man by asking what he thought was a broader question and not having a grasp of why it doesn't make sense.

I picked that up first time I saw it....

I thought that was the entire point of it being so heartbreaking. Everyone else it just kinda happened to, but Peter KNEW it was coming.

I'm specifically talking about autistic kids, many of which won't be able to "grow up" and learn the positive lesson you're talking about. If you don't feel for them then you're just a heartless tool.

What the fuck? Autistic children are perfectly capable of learning life lessons you braindead bag of shit

I don't think Ulti said anything particularly bad here. Some children on the spectrum will have difficulty understanding that. Certainly not a large percentage. Of course, it's kind of irrelevant to quotes.

Haha, that was improv? Awesome!

Infinity Wars had a lot of great exchanges.

Tony Stark: "Did you seriously just say "hitherto undreamt of"?"

Dr. Strange: "Are you seriously leaning on the Cauldron of the Cosmos?"

*Cloak of Levitation smacks Tony*

*beat*

Tony Stark: ".... I'm going to allow that."

Do I even want to know who you're responding to?

I was responding to Drax but you didn't see him because he's invisible.
