Britain has been been the victors for 200+ years, and thus the need to abolish monarchy has never been much of an option. The Glorious Revolution nearly killed monarchy, but with some conditions the monarchs behaved themselves. Power also gradually dissipated to the Parliament, and thus the monarchy became a symbol of tradition, English identity and a tool of unity.
