My legs have been like this for a few days, maybe a week max. My legs don't feel any weaker, and the problem only happens when I sit or stand still (but it happens almost instantly). When I move around, they feel fine.

I'm going to the doctors this week, hopefully tomorrow. I hope it isn't something too series.

if your sugar is high enough, the entire legs will tingle, usually when you're resting.

Win/win for them. They dont have to pay out, and then everyones payments increase so they get more money! Yay!

If they pay less your premiums would decrease because that's how risk pooling works.

Aren't insurance costs driven up by a lot of poor uninsured using the ER for care and then ignoring the bills? You really shouldn't go to the ER for something like this if you have insurance (and assuming it's as mild of a condition as it sounds). I don't know entirely what you mean by "tingling" sensations but I'm imaging something like when my foot "falls asleep", which is manageable.

Err, I think I meant that it just drives up the cost of care (cause they have to make it up elsewhere?), which I assume would in turn drive up the insurance. I'm not sure how accurate that is, just something I've heard before, usually I think in insurance debates so it could just be made up/exaggerated for some kind of political point

Hospitals just write off unpaid hospital bills on their taxes anyways as a business expense.

The American healthcare system is a racket.

Insurance companies get lower rates than uninsured patients because they negotiate contracted rates with providers and hospitals.

Honestly, this was my first thought. I tried to call my gf, who as I mentioned is in med school, but i couldn't get a hold of her. I wanted to talk to her about it before I left to the ER.

I honestly had no idea what the hell to do. I've never really been or anything ever. I guess the tingling sensation can be a symptom of MS, or some tumors.I kinda got scared.

the cool thing is though that my insurance is pretty great, and I won't really have to pay for anything. Another reason why I went. Plus I haven't been to a doctor in like 2 years maybe. I was due. My health is nothing to juck with, and money really isn't an issue in terms of health.

As for what actually happened at the doctors, they said they couldn't find anything wrong. I had blood tests and urine tests done. Everything looks good, except I was a little dehydrated, and I am deficient in Vitamin D.

So drive to a different one? Or just wait a day to get the results. The NP at the urgent care would tell you if your symptoms sound like ones that you would need to go to the ER for. The ER really shouldn't be used for things like this. But to each their own.

No. How can insurance costs be driven up by the uninsured?

I think Chewster might be talking about the repeal of the individual mandate that the Republicans pushed through a few months back. Since a bunch of healthy people that were paying premiums are now uninsured, it means those who are still insured are sicker as a group, thus driving up costs (or, I guess, keeping costs the same but driving down revenue).

Seems to be the case. I get this in my legs and hands now and then. I've had many test and they all have come back clear save for low on vitamin D and Iron that I'm taking supplements for. The docs have put these nerve feelings down to anxiety just as every feeling I have that's out of the norm for me. They are probably right.

There we go. Not exactly sure what Vitamin D does in regards to nerves but it could be connected.

I did read, don't be so self-righteous. My qualm had more to do with the fact that you said you're not sure what Vitamin D has to do with nerves, but that could be it. I'm not sure what air quality has to do with digestion or what the pH of your tap water has to do with bone density, but they're all just shots in the dark. I get that neither of us are doctors (thank god lol) but it wouldn't do TC any good to start chasing down a health issue that might not even exist (Vitamin D-Nerves, specifically). Sure, he should take some supplements and see if that helps, but it wouldn't do him any good to get hung up on an issue like that.

Anyway, I can see that I'm making a moutain out of a molehill, so I'll keep quiet on it now.
