FrozenBananas 05/21/18 1:02:54 PM #1:	People loved Pee Wees Big Adventure, Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. Batman was the second highest grossing movie in 1989, almost beating Indiana Jones... These kind of movies would not be even close to as well received today as they were back then. I'm saying that the masses wouldn't like something with that kind of style today, but for some reason they loved them 20 years ago. They'd prefer MCU today. Which isn't bad either. I still love Batman & Returns, while enjoying Forever and &Robin for what they were (particularly &Robin, which was hilarious although I can't recall enjoying it as much at the time) It's not that surprising that Batman (1989) was wildly popular, though. Jack Nicholson gave a tremendous performance as the Joker and Michael Keaton was a great Batman (as Jon Lajoie will you in song). And, up until TDK, Returns was my favorite Batman movie.
