Did an update today and now I got this stupid thing. Phone says I'm connected to WiFi, only other thing Google turns up is this Interrupt Mode thing that I don't even have on my phone, and all of my sounds are turned on and working anyway.

I'm not even appearing to be getting my freaking texts if my phone is on idle, too. I'll press the button, phone goes up, then BAM there are my text alerts and notifications from 5+ minutes ago. Frustrating me to high hell.

Please help?

I took WiFi connection + texting = service being fine. So I thought it was something else.

Are you currently in an area where there's no signal?

If you have wifi, you can turn on wifi calling.

My house, middle of town. Never had any issues before up until the update I did earlier.

Hmm, maybe check under Settings>Connections>Mobile Network and see if you have Mobile data and LTE enabled and if you have a carrier under Network operators.

You can also trying going outside to where you know you definitely get a signal, and if does then you'll know there's nothing wrong with the phone.

I restarted my phone for the third time, was testing it in safe mode (still no service), and this time my entire phone is different. Icons are different, more options in the notification menu. So fucking confused.

Check with your carrier, maybe they've stopped your service?

Or test your sim card on another phone.

@DavidWong

Just got back from Verizon. It's for sure a SIM card issue, though the guy had no idea as to why this would occur right after an update. He and another employee were saying my options menu looked a bit weird as well, so that update just...did something to my phone. I'm looking into upgrading soon so meh.

So weird. Did they fix it?

I guess the update fried the SIM for whatever reason.

That's my guess, coupled with there being something else wrong with the phone that went unnoticed, or it was just a freak power surge in the phone.

Yup, the poison pill. They create these phones solely to ensure they crap out after two years or so, so you spend more money on another!

It's fixed now, yeah. It's strange though. At the Verizon store, the temporary SIM card used worked immediately on my phone (and when I tried my original SIM card in another phone, it was busted in that, too). Yet when I bought my own SIM card and went home with it, it didn't work, and I had to do a factory reset on it. It's working now, and I backed up my shit first so getting back to my usual wasn't a problem, but still weird.

Yeeep. Though I'll be honest and say my phone hasn't been doing too bad. Every so often it'll randomly restart itself out of nowhere, but that happens maybe twice a month? Speed is still fine, buttons and touch screen are fine, it doesn't have any freezing problems or anything. This is the first thing that's happened in just a little over two years.

I'm looking at a Galaxy S9+ for my upgrade, though.
