Has anyone here experienced this phenomenon? How did you achieve that state?

I want to lucid dream tonight.

read up on lucid dreaming before you sleep. First person perspective games also help. Chant "I am going to sleep" before going to sleep. Be alert for certain contradictions in dreams:

-you don't remember why you are there
-you stressing over something you shouldn't be stressing about (trying to solve a math problem for class when you are no longer in class)
-clocks don't work
-you have trouble reading
-mirrors don't work (don't stare at your reflection too long though)

Its super easy for me to Lucid Dream, if you REALLY want to try it I would take 1-2 Unisom Gels and wait until you are completely drowsy. If you want a bigger experience, eating cured and dried Fly Amanita Mushrooms will trigger Lucid Dreams lasting up to 8 hours. If you have a Nightmare Lucid then that's on you entirely.

I learned to do it when I was younger.

All I really remember was keeping a dream journal, as in you had to write your dreams down as soon as you wake up from them, whether it's your normal waking time or 2am.

That and reality checks. Keep asking yourself am I dreaming during the day and test it - hold your breath, try to poke your finger through the palm of your hand, etc

My best trigger is when I can't adjust light levels, like when I flip a light switch and nothing happens.

I have the "running through molasses" thing when I try and run in my dreams, so that's a pretty good flag for me too.

The hardest part isn't going lucid; once you're in the habit, it's not too hard. The part I struggle with is being aware of the fact I'm dreaming without thinking about it to hard, which always snaps me back out of it.

I've heard keeping a dream journal helps.

Lucid dreaming regularly is also stressful . Your body doesn't get to rest well when you are lucid. Your mind will try to make you not lucid and it can be harder to recognize triggers.

"What if it's not a dream and my actions will have consequences?"

sometimes you will have a reset mid-lucid dream and go back to not realizing you are in a dream.

I usually have lucid dreams if I wake up and then fall back asleep immediately

Being half-asleep does the trick more often than not

For me it usually involves sex >_>

If I'm having sex or someone is naked, that's a pretty good sign that I'm asleep

Realizing you're in a dream is kinda freaky, too. Although sometimes I'll wake up and it'll take me a moment to figure out that it wasn't real
