Geezus, inviso. Can I cheer when you die? Your comments here are horrible. You admittedly don't even know the guy, and we're trying to have a moment to honor someone that had an impact on the gaming community.

I knew he had cancer for quite some time. I'm honestly surprised he lasted as long as he did. I thought 3 years ago he said he had only months to live. I was really shocked when I continued to see videos from him up until fairly recently. I didn't subscribe to him, but he generally made salient points and he was easy to listen to. I appreciate him and didn't realize he was only 34 at the end. Same age as my sister.

edit: never mind, 33 going on 34. My sister was 34 going on 35.

To me, he will always just be the guy who put himself on the line to promote gamergate even after it devolved into the rabid anti woman campaign it became.

Sucks for his family but....I have nothing good to say about him.

To be fair he did later renounce them. He genuinely seemed to be in it for the Ethics in Gaming Journalism, but once he realized how insanely toxic things were, he told them to piss off.

Hes also stuck up for various progressive causes even when his fan base hated him for it, which I admire.

I respect TB. Hes one of those things like Rick and Morty where his fan base is the worst part of his existence. He really became the rallying force behind the PC Master Race crowd, but I dont think he was that awful himself.

Cool enough for Dodger, cool enough for me

I guess i had stopped following the story by then. Or, more likely, Wang continued putting words in his mouth.

I dont really PC game and never encountered him elsewhere.

You'd be astonished at the pace of progress in the oncology field. All cancers will be cured/turned into manageable chronic conditions in our lifetime. Book it.

He basically realized that you could be critical of video game journalism (which he was until the end) without being associated with or fanning the flames of a hate group, and told them to stop acting like he was one of them just because they shared some common ideas.

He was very much what a GGer would consider an SJW. He just happened to also hate mainstream media.

You are probably not far off man.

My aunt has been battling cancer and went with standard chemo that failed. She's been doing an experimental treatment for the Cleveland Medical Institution for over a year now. She is doing better than ever and the cancer seems to be almost gone now. She was one of the fortunate ones to be given the actual drug and not the place on and test ones.

The plan is, if enough results are conclusive, to sell this drug in any pharmacy. Like you could just pick it up in Walmart.

Going into what? Drug companies have an incentive to continue research because turning cancer from an acute to a chronic condition is worth literal trillions of dollars in revenue.

It's pretty much impossible to 'cure' cancer considering it's caused by random DNA mutagenesis, but we'll see some very effective treatments in our lifetime. We're getting better at targeted therapies of things that are specific to the cancer cells thereby alleviating detrimental, noncancerous cell death. We've gone from a shotgun approach towards more rational based drug design.

Anyway RIP Totalbiscuit. I always enjoyed your 'WTF is...' series of videos.

not really, though some reactions do come off similar, with the key one being his reaction to the guy who asked "are traps gay?"

that said, he also very much hated the SJW types, outrage culture as a whole (which overlaps heavy with SJWs), and people who aren't willing to hold discussions of issues/ideas. he very much focused on the principle of arguing about ideas. his association with GG comes in a few ways, though i'm not particularly fond of a pissing fight in a topic about his death. the guy's impact on the industry was enormous and it's unfortunate that he won't be around to see more of the fruits of his labor.

Oh I agree that he hated outrage culture

My point was that he held very progressive social viewpoints, and to a lot of angry folk, that gets you labeled as an SJW.

He would have been just as dismissive of people upset with a woman in BFV as he would with people upset that KC:D was so white, if they came at it the discussion full of anger.

You can PM me for the sake of not cluttering the thread if you want, but could you remind me what Gamergate is? I've dug around and seen it interpreted as everything from a drama between a former couple, to an ethics investigation and a commentary on social mores. Just don't know how it'd be anything more than a minor blemish at best.
