Mr. Nobody was a solid 6.5 for me. Not bad, but yeah, it tried a little too hard and got really cheesy as it went on.
Two of my faves from the past few years: Bokeh - Everyone suddenly disappears. A young couple are the only ones left and don't know what or why it's happened. It's a bit like The Quiet Earth, which if you haven't seen yet should be at the top of your list if you're a fan of isolation-themed sci-fi. Perfect Sense - People start losing their senses for some unknown reason. Taste, smell, hearing, etc. It sounds goofy but it's one of those "what if?" type stories that will get you thinking about it randomly long after watching. --- Do unto others what your parents did to you. ...
