The only NIS games I've played are the original, a little it of the second one, and Soul Nomad, which I really hope gets a squeal at some time

But yeah, any newb advice you can give me would be nice, I'm not looking for how to beat things, just not looking to fall into rookie mistakes if you get my drift

Ps has the season pass for download which gives you all the dlc sans the bunny costume

I would recommend doing all the dlcs first to unlock those characters early. The helper print with a shit ton of health and the one with magic.

Sicily and Metallia are amazing characters. And especially my waifu Etna

and nope, no one is tricky. You can recruit anyone very easily. Its all streamlined

the only confusing stuff might be unlocking the carnage dimension, which involves doing a bunch of high-reward quests in the postgame
gains from item leveling seem pretty weak in this one, so you can mostly item leveling and just use the item world as a means to gain new equipment and exp, up until the carnage dimension items where your gains are much larger

at one point you'll unlock the innocent aid squad; level it up as high as you can but without getting it to the maximum level
this way you'll be able to put a ton of innocents into their and have them breed, but then you can have people in your hunter squad (whose level you should max, btw) kill those newly-born innocents to massively increase their level
increasing the innocent aid squad to max will have the innocents be born subdued, which means that you miss out on a bit of extra levels

the dlc chapters will scale up with your progress through the story
you might wanna get stronger earlier and fight the characters as soon as possible if you wanna get the dlc characters for your main playthrough

2) I put my MC next to a Priest to learn Healing, but I didn't have it as a skill. Did they do away with the Teacher/Pupil thing and you can't learn skills from other classes?

3) This is the big one. I feel like an idiot. I cleared Chapter 1, but I don't know how to activate 2x1. I go to the person and it tells me to "seek new info" or some shit. I've talked to the girl a few times, got all those conversations out of the way. I talked to the big red guy I just got. I finished up a couple of the easy Missions, I bought a new Skill. I don't know how to advance the game! lol

Okay, so this is super annoying.

So Killia has 123/934 HP right now, right? He's almost dead, but the green bar by his sprite only shows it down just a little bit. Why the hell doesn't the green bar show the life %, or is this just a glitch?

What the hell is this shit?! I have to level items up on the Bonus Gage now? God damn it, why did they change the Item World!

enemies are kinda underpowered in this game so they're quite easy to wipe out
getting bonus meter is easier than ever thanks to easy combos, meter-giving item symbols, and "filler" items so you can get all sorts of extra item levels and items from the bonus meter with no problem after a point
level fish and level spheres will become extremely common once you level up the right squad (item adventure?)

i don't have a problem with nis doing at least the tiniest bit to, i don't know, incentivize actually fighting enemies in the item world instead of just doing the boring "rush to the gate" shit
the nerfed (duller) item world generation is the real problem with 5's item world
the kill bonus from item bosses, invaders (pirates), and the strongest enemies you can handle will reap you better gains than flat leveling ever can
you can even boost rarity to 100, which means that the item has 100% more stats than it would at rarity 0, and you can then get the rarity matching bonus off of this

What's up with those break rooms? I got a bank one where I talked to someone three or four times and kept getting more and more HL from her. I didn't risk doing it again, because it seemed like cops might show up and attack me

Then I got another one where everyone was on colored geo panels, but I could only talk to them, and couldn't attack. They were set up in a big square, like that map from Cave of Trials III in the original game

mystery rooms have npcs that you can talk to get items or get bonuses on your item from
talking to npcs enough will almost always trigger a battle, and wiping everyone out in that battle will give you "training bonus" for your item
the 3x3 formation of the cat monsters is supposed to be an exp gaining area whose fight you begin by talking to the cat in front a couple times

if you get caught in one of these mystery room battles and need to escape, you can use someone to displace the item world guide catsaber npc to access the exit gate underneath it (it's still there in the bank room, but it isn't visible)

1) What's the final Level for Swords? Is it the same for all of them? Just want to know when it's okay to switch to another weapon to start Leveling that one

2) What do I do with all these people I've captured? I can't interrogate any of them. I can only. . . damn it, I forgot. I'm in the middle of the Item World right now so I can't look, lol

3) Speaking of which, do the Sword Skills level up the Sword skill, or just attacking with the Sword? For example, is it better to just attack them all with my normal attack, or will it be faster to kill them all with Blade Slash? I know that's quicker for real EXP, but I don't know for Weapon Skills

4) What does. . .oh, I can just look this up myself. Shouldn't be THAT many new Geo effects, rig. . .holy mother of GOD! How the hell am I going to remember all of that?! Death from a single hit?!

Reverse damage? What does this mean? Healed if you get hit by a bow, but take damage if you get hit with a potion? Or is the damage reflected back on the attacker?

Mighty Enemy, Absolute Area? No HUMANS?! Jesus. . . I still don't know what Super Encroach means, which is what I was going to ask about, , lol

6) I thought having my Sub-class as Angel it would be a fun idea, but it's all support for units next to you or in your faction/gang/club, and I always play these games solo with just the MC, and then use my minions to throw me around or get killed. there is no "final level for swords"
all items can go up to lv500, and far down the line you'll be able to increase the cap further and further
items with better stats at lv0 are better items and will grow better too

you'll eventually be able to interrogate them
i never bothered putting a captured unit on my team so the only real uses for the mechanic are to get extracts (items that permanently boost a character's stats) and to have those captured units level up squads

you could tell with five seconds of observation that both skills and basic attacks will level your weapon mastery
weapon mastery caps at 100 and at different intervals you earn skills; each level of weapon mastery increases your stats by some percentage per level

damage taken on a reverse damage panel is healing, and any healing is received as damage

what about squads don't you get? for the most part, it's obvious: characters in that squad are given the bonus that the game says that they would get
leveling up your squads can lead to additional effects for those in them
the character designated as leader of the squad can use a squad attack when in revenge mode, which has their squad attack the entire squad of the enemy you target with
squad attack damage can be boosted to stupid degrees by just spamming prisoners to level them up and they're honestly kinda overpowered and have bad implications for the game (you can easily oneshot baal with squads)

you change subclass at the assembly
in this game, the character's main class just determines their elements, aptitudes, stats, unique skills, and basic stats like movement and jump
subclassing is basically this game's version of leveling up classes to acquire new tiers, only now you can do it all with one character by having that character "subclass" the classes you want to level up
subclassing as much as possible is key to getting a lot of good evilities

1: iirc 40 is the max rank of an any equippable but u gotta dive into a rank 39 to get that unless they changed it

2. u can either discipline em or make em residents of ur netherworld

3. normals and skills tied to the weapon should rank it up (unique skills may work? not sure)

4. reverse damage means attacks heal and heals do dmg encorach means the geo panel area grows w/ every turn

Of course, but level 9999 wouldve been easier to say, rather than 500, then it can keep going up and up all the way to 9999

from what i remember hearing u should get every skill by somewhere in the mid-late 20s or early 30s?

weapon mastery skills are gotten at levels 1, 3, 7, 15, 25, and 50
one seventh skill can be gotten but only in the chara world

unique characters should get their last skill at 80 or 200, with story characters getting some of their skills through story mode

ever since 2, geo symbols have been randomly able to move
as of 5, you can tell which ones move by looking at the geo symbols' movement stat
