What the hell can you talk about it? How bad was it that you still dream about it xfd

A half day of jury selection, a day of opening statement and botched plaintiff testimony, an hour of waiting in the jury room the next morning for the judge to tell us they settled.

It was a scheduled 9 day trial over a $300,000 piece of equipment designed to make aluminum fence posts. At the time the company was making posts from 3/4" PVC pipe expanded in a press. They wanted to do the same thing with 3" aluminum pipe. The judge told us it had been in litigation for 7 years or so and had ballooned well beyond the cost of the equipment.

Settlement was confidential in the sense that the jury wasn't told what it was.

... That sounds so friggin' boring dude wow.

It wasn't terrible. I do preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment so sort of had a grasp on the technical end of things. The procedure was interesting too, but there was also going to be a four hour video deposition on process recommendations from a third party that the plaintiff admitted they didn't implement so am glad they settled.

TIL that only three people deal exclusively in cash: drug dealers, pimps and prostitutes.

I wonder if a 4 hour video is common for process recommendations in cases like this :\

The bailiff said he'd never seen a civil trial go longer than three days. It was a video deposition because the expert was from out of town.
