Went from 150-170 million dollar opening 4 day weekend projections to now a sub 100 million dollar opening projection. Solo has bombed in India and China and Europe. There is rumblings of this movie being in line with movies such as John Carter and Lone Ranger in terms of bombs. Like, Marvel releases stuff close together, too, but everything all leads up to the Avengers movies, so people are more inclined to keep seeing them so they don't miss anything. Where they have virtually no competition. That said, I thought Solo was great. And if you're a huge Star Wars fan, you should definitely see it. And audience score typically isn't a good indicator of how successful something will be, since TLJ is at like, a 47%, there. fair point and i probably shouldn't be talking like i'm a box office expert (because i'm not), but i do think having several poorly received movies in a row takes away some of the goodwill towards a franchise. most of the transformers movies were poorly received but they still did well at the box office UNTIL the last knight, which did badly. yes, we're still getting bumblebee but 1) that's going to be directed by travis knight, so paramount did probably go "ok this michael bay thing isn't really working anymore," and 2) i do believe that's going to be the last movie in this particular continuity. then the franchise probably gets rebooted to become part of the transformers/g.i. joe/micronauts/etc. cinematic universe. of course solo not being too well received by the audience isn't the ONLY reason it's doing poorly at the box office. jeff zero posted a pretty good list of reasons (via leonhart) in ulti's topic. --- Geothermal terpsichorean ejectamenta <cite>Mr Lasastryke posted [p:902079878] in It is offi... If you look at the audience reviews on RT for TLJ, for instance, it's filled with a lot of accounts that have literally only given one review and no profile information filled out giving it as low of a score as they can. It's pretty good and audience reception has been positive so we'll see how it holds. If it had been delayed to December, this might be a very different story.
