Haven't had a vacation for over 2 years, so I love these times when the company is off. Gonna start at least taking some days off here and there pretty soon now that I'll be a full time employee soon.

Will you be doing this soon by any chance?

Depends on how soon I actually get hired on. I'll start getting vacation then. They finally had me fill out the application to become full time on Friday. What I'm waiting on now is whether they're going to pay me the wage I asked for during negotiations. If that's approved, I should be hired on pretty soon.

So your first order of business after becoming a full time employee is to... take time off?

No, my first order of business is to go to work. I'll just begin taking some days off here and there once I accrue enough vacation time.

If you don't want to work full time hours why don't you just... stay part time?

I work more than full time hours on average, around 45 hours per week. I even did a couple 80 hour weeks back to back last year. It's not a matter of "not wanting to work full time hours." It's a matter of not having had a vacation in over 2 years.

And this topic is about become a full time employee vs being a contractor. I haven't worked part time hours in about 10 years.

Hope it works out for full time, TC. I was doing 40+ hours for years but officially part time so no paid vacation or holidays (had to take some sporadic days off without pay over the years). It kind of sucked, place shut down two weeks for Christmas and New Years, so I was off work, but no pay, lol.

Finally got on full time a couple years ago.

Meh, I guess everyone has their unique thresholds. I haven't been on a vacation since 2006 and I do 60 hour weeks, every week. I also plan on retiring by 50.
