The game has only given me the opportunity to fight Mega Satan once. That was months ago, maybe over a year now.

Today...did not change that, and it's infuriating because I don't know how to increase my odds of getting to the Dark Room. I know to bomb two angel statues first and fight them for their key pieces (I think faith helps find those rooms).

I also know an important step is to whoop ass, and this seed was setting me up for it in one of the best runs I ever had. I was maxed out with power and range early and along the way I got all sorts of defensive items (Halo, Mask, flight, Double Fly and Bandage Girl, shielded tears). I also had Guppy's Head with the Habit, so anytime I actually got hurt I had an instant recharge on a devastating attack on anything around me. I also had a ton of luck coupled with the Cartridge, but I never saw me get to turn invincible since I rarely got hit.

I killed final boss-Isaac without getting hurt in the Cathedral by staying in his face. I had full health and the pill for more Soul Hearts on stand-by, plus I basically maxed out on money/keys/bombs. The big chest appeared, and it took me to a cutscene instead of the Dark Room like I wanted.

This was supposed to be the run.

I had the goddamn key put together, just take me to the Dark Room instead of these shoddy endings! I am positively certain Mega Satan would have died if I had my rematch tonight, and I don't know what it takes to more consistently get to the Dark Room.

How do you get more opportunities to face Mega Satan? Because argh.

If you go to The Cathedral you must have the Polaroid to continue to The Chest, where you have a chance to fight Mega Satan. Otherwise the run ends after beating Isaac.

If you go to Sheol, you must have the Negative to continue to the Dark Room. Otherwise the fight ends after beating regular Satan.

To increase your chance of getting Angel rooms, you first need to never take Devil deals in Devil rooms. You can open the red chests in them, just never spend Hearts for items. Intentionally harming yourself multiple times in one of those sacrifice rooms that just have a single spike tile in the middle will also increase your chances (and enough times will even make one of those angel fights happen right in the room)

If you reach The Chest or Dark Room without both parts of the key, you can also open Mega Satans door with the Dads Key rechargeable item.

To get the Negative you have to beat Satan 5 times. The Polaroid is by beating Isaac 5 times.

The only way to skip this step is to use the self-sacrifice room (the room with a single spike in the middle) I believe 11 times. doing so will take you strait to the Dark Room. Uses eight and 10 of the SSR will spawn angels, so this is actually my proffered method of getting to Mega Satan. Not taking devil deals is a pain in the ass.

I rarely use these rooms, but last night's run I did a bunch...I would have guessed a dozen times, but maybe not.

REVENGE!

I thought the Dark Room played a dirty trick by hiding my health when I finally got there, but I had full health and a Lovers card...still had all my red hearts by the time I beat Mega Satan, probably had a soul heart left too.

Shew. Finally.

I expected an achievement or a new item out of this, but maybe I didn't because I chose a seed instead of going random...? Hmmm.

Thanks for the advice guys! A weight is off my shoulders after playing this game so much.

Yeah, you don't make any progress with set seeds, except for the old way of unlocking The Lost (and not for the last character).
