I figured No Country For Old Men's ending was some subversive avant-garde statement that flew over my head, and was legitimately surprised to find out in recent years that it's pretty universally disliked.

I didn't like the end of Castaway or Cast Away, Tom Hanks. I get some movies try to make you think, but just finish your damn story and be done with it.

You know, I think I might wanna go with this. I gave the ending a chance when I watched the movie for the first time last year, but the more it stews in my head... I really just didn't care for it. The fact that it mirrors & contextualizes the movie's title was interesting, but it really just didn't pair well with the rest of the movie.

You know, this is one of those movies that's so over-the-top that they should have just gone ahead and had the balls to let Gerard Butler's character win. The kind of people who loved this movie were rooting for him the whole time anyway.

Alot of crappy movies in which the producers have pathetic dream of making a sequel.

I hated the ending sequence of Heat. De Niro basically went on a 99% suicide mission. The thing was, he already had his money in order. It didnt matter whether that doublecrosser dude was around or not anymore. So I feel like he went out of pocket on terrible chances just after showcasing for 2 hours that was not what he was about. It felt forced since it basically fed him right into Pacinos hands and let there be a stereotypical good guy wins ending where De Niro gets straight up killed in a gunfight. (That being said, the scene itself in total was awesome, it just seemed random).

Just thought of an example: The Game.

everything about it was perfect, but it was kind of hokey at the end when he just magically falls in love with the main actress.

Great Movies

Wonder Woman
- Despite being a top ten superhero movie, the main villain and final fight were both pretty blah. The wrap-up wasn't too great either.

Night of the Living Dead
- I know I'm alone in this, but I hate the film's use of cheap irony in the fate of Barbara. Still a stellar horror film.

Vertigo
- While I appreciate the way that Hitchcock got around the censorship of the time, the ending feels like a fairly lazy conclusion.

Good Movies

Krampus
- The movie's fun in spite of the lame attempt at a subversive twist.

The Dark Knight Rises
- It should've ended 20 minutes sooner and without the attempted swerve.

The Sword and the Stone
- You remember the squirrel, the wizard's duel, the mops, the magical transformations, etc. But can you tell me the ending to this one?

Of course, I'll never forget Sir Pellinore and Sir Deepvoice sticking up for Wart. I liked that scene enough that when I read Le Morte D'Arthur many years later in AP English, I instantly recognized Pellinore and he quickly became one of my favorite knights. Funnily enough, after I'd read L'Morte, I retroactively hated TSatS for character-assassinating Ector and Kay.

But if you're talking about the last, I dunno, couple minutes of the movie where Arthur and Archimedes are alone in the throne room and Merlin comes back, then...I guess it was a touch anticlimactic, but I wouldn't consider it terrible.

Haven't seen the movie in probably twenty years, for the record.

Admittedly I did watch it probably a dozen times or more as a kid, and movies / shows I watched and games I played with that much repetition got pretty deeply imbedded.
