Just because you hate Gen 1 doesn't mean this is a bad game. Obviously I'd prefer a Gen 8 announcement to this, but this still looks really fun. I like when they try different ideas.

Last night when I was playing Overwatch two guys were on mic talking about how excited they were for these. One of them was really happy it was sorta like Pokemon Go.

It's not even just the Gen 1 hate.

0 Online is just BS and taking out wild pokemon battles is really dumb as well.

Sure I get it's just a side thing until a main release down the line but if something like this becomes popular enough, this is the direction Pokemon is going to be taking permanently. As someone who was a huge fan of Pokemon, I'd really rather that didn't happen.

I think they know better than to merge side games with mainline.

And yeah, online would have been fun, but I don't think it's completely necessary for a game like this.

Yeah this is more of a bridge game to connect the Go players to Mainline, definitely not a replacement series. "Let's Go" is part of the title for a reason and it's not to be a new mainline.

Will there be more in the Let's Go series, most likely, but that's fine there's tons and tons of Pokemon series.

but that was arguably the worst type in the game.

authentic experience is a team of 4 psychics, a normal and maybe a rock/ground if you want.

I just like posting opinions! If I loved the trailer I'd be in here posting just as much.

Aesthetically the game is pretty stylish. You can put a hat on your Eevee, and ride an Onix while your Eevee rides on you. But limiting it to gen 1 is a pretty big bummer. It's the most played-out gen and also limits pokemon variety a ton. I'll probably just wait until the next mainline game.

(It's also a weird choice for targeting the Pokemon Go crowd, since Go is already on gen 3. Like, my dad has only ever played Pokemon Go, so he has no gen 1 nostalgia. He'd just be like "No Tyranitar? No Blissey?")

So now that some time has passed...I still can't see the appeal, I can't understahd "the point" of these games, really
We know what to expect
We know which Pokemon will be in
We will catch them all pretty easily (no random encounters and 151 Pokemon is already a small amount at this day and age)

And....if I read it right, tranfering Pokemon between GO and Let's GO is a one way deal - only from GO to let's GO, not the other way around
Which makes it even more pointless for a Pokemon GO player
Want to get that region exclusive Tauros or Kangaskhan or something? Let's Go won't help you with that

Well that's a start
Go is actually one of the better games to shiny hunt in (as long as you played during the events...)
People with multiple shiny Pokemon can transfer them over to Lets Go
And if it will have Pokebank support, those shinies will finally be worth something

Based on what I've heard other people say online about Let's Go, there are some good things about these games. It keeps the Pokemon Go style catching system out of the true mainline games, which wouldn't be very well received if they were forced into the upcoming Gen 8 games. These games can also provide a stepping stone to get Pokemon Go players to move onto the true mainline games.

Also, it will be possible to have multiple save files by using multiple user accounts:

What's the possibility of the 2019 VGC season taking place on the Let's Go games? It would be pretty odd to see a metagame limited to only Gen 1 Pokemon, but it could also be interesting to see some Pokemon shine in a metagame where they would be otherwise irrelevant if there was a larger pool of Pokemon to choose from.

It's hard to imagine USUM being used for a second straight VGC season, although ORAS was used for 2 seasons (2015 and 2016).

It's hard to say. We know very little about the competitive battling aspects of Let's Go. The article says there's no breeding. That means Let's Go would need a replacement system to get Pokemon with the IVs you want. There are no wild Pokemon. That means Let's Go needs a way for Pokemon to get EVs. Gen 1 Pokemon + Alolan formes only is also fairly restrictive.

I suspect they will try to force it and have VGC played under Let's Go even if it isn't really that great an idea.

I actually really liked what I saw. Had this been the next mainline games, then yeah, I would've been super disappointed, but it's not and that's the thing to remember here. Besides, we've waited two years for new mainline games before, we can do that again.

Even if these are made mostly go try to grab the Pokemon GO audience and get them to take a look at the Switch, it honestly looks good for what it is. I can understand being disappointed that only gen 1 Pokemon are included, but the idea is pretty much to revisit Pokemon Yellow in modern times with Pokemon GO mechanics, so it makes sense. And to everyone tired of Kanto and gen 1, then be happy it's getting the focus here in a spinoff rather than mainline RB remakes.

This is a much cooler spin-off game than most Pokemon spin-offs, and people really need to remember that they are just spin-offs.

Quest is actually really fun. The only things available to buy are optional decorations, so there is no paywall. It has rechargable energy like any other free to play, but there is no option to pay real money to replenish it.

Gameplay is like a modified Pokemon Rumble, but you catch new Pokemon by luring them to your camp with food in-between levels. And unlike the Rumble games, you level your Pokemon up and evolve them.

Even though money is in no way required, buying the 1-time DLC options sure look like they'd make the game more playable. Having more cooking pots active for more wild Pokemon seems huge, and the extra battery charge and extra daily tickets are nothing to scoff at. If I decide to really play, I think I'll at least bite to buy the cheapest one.

I bought the $5 one and I see myself getting the others later on. It does give you helpful advantages. I was just happy that the game is fully playable without them.

Some final clarification to online has been made. According to Famitsu magazine, it will have online battling and trading. It will require the paid online service. It will not have GTS, Battle Spot, or Wonder Trade.
