I think there's a guy who summons demons by shooting himself in the head, but that might be a different series. Anagram posted... Is there anything I should know going in? The game uses a "day" system. You only have so many days. For P5 only... go all the way to the "Treasure Room" when you get there. You need to "secure your route" before sending a "calling card." A boss fight will not trigger until you have sent the calling card. Some players wasted a day by having to return to the dungeon twice. That's the only gameplay tip I'll give you for now. Playing Persona 5 was a little overwhelming for me at first because there was a lot more places to go. Theyre both incredible experiences, but P5 is almost better in every way (soundtrack and story can be argued, I actually think P4G has the better story) because they took the mechanics from P4G and added to/upgraded them. By the end of P4G I was just rushing through the dungeons because A) It was so easy and I was overleveled from doing all the quests (even on hard mode) and B) The dungeons arent interesting, outside of visuals theyre all almost exactly the same so when youre 8 dungeons in or whatever youve gotten bored of the same old shit. P5s dungeons alone make it better than P4G imo. At any rate, enjoy Persona 5! It weaves together the generally individual mechanics of P3/P4 into a delicious swirl of addictive glory - to the point that going back to a game where those mechanics aren't so well incorporated/woven together is really hard to think about. The only problem is that its split into two games and we only got a good remake of the first one on PSP, the second is on PS1 (and thus doesn't have the UI updates and stuff the first has so its a downgrade) and has an absolutely garbage-tier localization that almost reads like its machine translated. But if you can get over that, 2 is really good. Both 1 and 2 play entirely differently from 3 on. For P5 if you're playing without a guide: get Death 7, max Temperance, and Fortune 7 ASAP. The former basically eliminates SP issues and the other two will give you a lot more breathing room for social links.
