I've seen several actors and showrunners pitch to abc to pick up their series and it seems the list gets a little bigger everytime i look

so doubt it's that hard if they'eve already got people begging for the spot left by roseanne

it's a better deal than rebranding roseanne and turning it into some dark dramatic comedy about John Goodman overcoming tragedy and hell on earth

personally I'm doubtful whether she meant it that way. can't know for sure, but I have a feeling she didn't realize the racial interpretation of what she was saying. (I guess though, even if it weren't racial, publicly insulting someone's appearance just because you disagree with them is still pretty low.)

a general similarity in appearance. the reason I suspect this is that I know I could easily make the same kind of mistake.

also, there are ways of saying "you're just an <adjective> <racial slur>" that are clearly offensive, but this isn't one. it's only being interpreted racially, but doesn't have to be.

again, maybe even without the racial part, it's still bad enough just to mock someone's appearance like this.

It's only fitting that they recast Roseanne as they once recast Lecy Goransen with Sarah Chalke. Heck, it even became a running joke within the show of the "two Beckys."
