For years I head about trials Comcast was doing in Atlanta and Philadelphia with 300GB caps and laughed at how that must suck.

About 18 months ago Comcast rolled out 1TB caps across its entire infrastructure as far as Im aware.

I have no other options at 25Mbps+ at my house. And now the FCC is trying to make things worse :(

Comcast has not rolled them out everywhere yet because I still have unlimited

Our high speed data is throttled down at about 25 gigabytes. I really wish we could get better options like Comcast here.

Mine, Spectrum, is definitely uncapped. A lot of other companies do have caps, but they are so high many don't even realize they reached it, especially if their connection is just throttled down rather than charged extra.

Comcast definitely DOES have a data cap of 1TB nationwide, but for those that pay $50 extra each month, they don't have one. For fiber, only AT&T has a data cap on the 300MBPS plan, but not on a gigabit plan. For cable, Spectrum, which includes Time Warner, Charter, and Brighthouse, and Altice are the only providers without a data cap.. Comcast, Cox, Mediacom, and Cable One all have nationwide data caps that range from 150GB to 6TB, depending on the plan, but most are universal across all plans, like Comcast. All of this info comes from a case study posted online 3 months ago..

Most mobile is actually unlimited with no real caps, aside from the highest speed possible. After that data allowance is used up, they just drop by one speed. At home, they either throttle back around 25% or to dial-up speeds, or they charge extra after reaching the limit. Under most circumstances, no one will ever reach a data cap, unless they download a lot each month.

As far as I know, most if not all services here in Brazil are unlimited. If that's not the case out there then I guess there is one good thing about living here.

I was surprised the ceiling on the 50GB or less range was so high. My home internet cap is 10GB before it goes to dial-up speeds, so 50 sounds like a dream.

I live in the country side, so I have 3 choices, and they all suck. The best one gives me 12 gigs a month before dial up speeds for $90 bucks month.

The only thing that makes it worthwhile is that it's unlimited from midnight to 5 AM. And then when it's dial up speeds, I guess it gets confused and lasts from 11 to 7.

Still terrible, but one of the other options gives a little more data but no free period, and the other one is basically the same except it's less reliable and the free period doesn't start till 1

Most people probably don't actually know if they have a limit. Most people with a high enough cap will never actually reach that cap, and may not realize they don't have unlimited.

My local-based Internet company advertises no caps. I feel bad for people stuck with companies like Comcast, especially with the FCC ready to make everything worse.
