Have you ever seen someone at the theater that you know? Was that kinda awkward? Someone before brought this up as a reason they never go alone.

Ive only gone to the movies once alone, but since I decided to not care, I doubt Id care no matter who saw me. If someone made you feel so embarrassed for doing something like that, theyd be pretty uncool people

There are much better ways to spend time with friends than seeing a movie at a movie theater.

I've only done it once. I can't imagine being embarrassed to see someone I know at the theater instead of relieved that I had someone to sit with tbh.

Though I did happen across a friend at the theater once, when I was there seeing Star Trek Beyond. He was there to see some kids movie (with his kids, ofc). He said he wished he could see STB. I later told him I might have actually preferred the kids movie. Beyond was a mess, lol.

prob eating alone. but do you mean at like a fast food place? people do that all the time. But at an olive garden? yeah kinda weird.

I have not, but I have no shame with regards to seeing movies alone so I'd have no problem talking to them (assuming I don't actively hate that person).

No, but I don't see the big deal. Even if I did, I'd just say I wanted to see the movie and none of my friends were interested in that particular movie. I like seeing movies like Steve Jobs in theaters, and a lot of my friends couldn't care less about seeing those movies.

I tend to get there early so I don't see people, usually the first if not the 2nd to sit down. And either way, does it matter? Sometimes schedules don't work out, I am still going to see the movie as soon as I can to avoid spoilers and to be able to talk about it.

Whenever I would go alone it was when I was in a different area than I lived. Cali to see my dad, Florida to see my grandparents, and so on so nah, I never saw anyone I knew.

gone plenty times by myself, even met people there and it was fine, who gives a fuck you just want to watch a movie.

one time I got approached by a dude and his gf and told me "are you by yourself?" I had to think fast on my feet and reply "yeah" fast and wthout hesitation or now THAT would have been awkward, he wanted me to buy hsi ticket because apparently they were all out, I smelled BS and told him I am pretty close to the counter so hecan wait there and if what he is saying is true then I will get his ticket, he scurried off like a little bitch.

Otherwise nah, nothing close to awkward,

How is it awkward? If anything you and the friend have something in common and could be movie buddies.

That being said, I would rather go to movies alone on opening day to avoid spoilers instead of waiting for my friends to have free time. I had Avengers 3 spoiled for me via Instagram and Facebook.

My goal is someday to have a theater to myself actually. The closest I've come is A Mighty Wind. Three others showed up. I usually have to catch the earliest matinee showing anyway, so seeing someone wouldn't be a big deal.

I have seen people buy a seat for their jacket..... I thought they were saving a seat, but I look back during the movie and still have their jacket there.

yeah some place where you go in and sit down to eat, like a buffet or an olive garden or red lobster or w/e. fast food is basically a grocery store where they assemble it for you, not the same

No, if I go by myself it is during the day in the middle of a week so I usually have the theater to myself or there are only one or two other people.

I have never seen someone I know while seeing a movie alone, but if I did I might say hello. Depends on who they are. And if it's someone I actually like I might join them, unless they were on a date or something.

Going to the movies alone is a perfectly reasonable to way to see a movie when you can't or don't want to work around other people's schedules, interest or lack thereof in what you want to see, and anything else. The only thing you lose out on is someone to talk to during the movie, which you shouldn't be doing. Unless its just some trash movie, but even then.
