Is this a multiplayer style game?

Yes. It's made to be played with 4 people in a party as you progress. If you don't have anyone you know to play with, when you queue it will match you with others

I believe you can fight things solo and it will just take a really long time

I would but I gave up PC gaming when my son was born. Used to play games on all platforms but recognized my time would be limited in becoming a father, so I made the conscious decision to limit myself to one device per generation.

Its a cooler looking version of MHWorld which is a casual version of the MH series.

Cashcom makes the game too generic and opens up ability for others to compete in the genre. Take all their money for all I care. Thats what they get for playing populist with a niche game series with a dedicated fanbase.

I've never played one of the Monster Hunter games. Moon has. Maybe we'll try it.

I have only done so briefly.

This game is much more engaging in fights than a lot of other games. You have to know when to dodge and keep yourself mobile. Each kind of weapon has its own attack styles and combos. The monsters have been interesting. I hope they add more variety in time. But I'm also very early in the game and I'm sure there's a lot more to come

Also protip if you're near the edge you can run off or a monster can knock you off so just don't go there

I played it for one session a few months ago, during the closed beta. It was entertaining enough, but it didn't seem to be working very well at that point, so I haven't felt a tremendous urge to pick it up again. it's actually still installed, so I could do so easily enough. Or I could just keep being addicted to Factorio. Only time will tell.

Hah. The bugs seem a bit more sorted out. I had no issues doing 8 monster hunts last night. Your should check it out and see if it improved much

Props to the character creation. It's quite in depth. Getting a female avatar was a little counterintuitive, you have to select "change body type"

I love Monster Hunter, and GaijinHunter (the go-to Youtuber when it comes to info and opinions on the series) was playing Dauntless a while back and did a breakdown on the weapons and combat. Looks like it could be fun, but obviously less deep than Monster Hunter.

It wasn't so much buggy as it was performing poorly, but that could also just mean I need to tweak settings. It may also have been more optimized. I should probably give it another shot at some point.

My son definitely has the gaming bug. Loves the Switch. Try to limit him to a half hour before bed and create other interests for him. I don't mind him playing video games, just don't want it to be all he wants to do.

He's watched me play MH: World. Bet he'd like to watch me play Dauntless.

What is your favorite and least favorite weapon? Favorite is either the sword or axe and least favorite is the hammer. Sword is easy to use and can interrupt easily and the axe can be devastating, especially with its level maxed. Hammer is way too slow and the right-clicks seem underwhelming.

I honestly like the chain blades and the sword so far. Chain blades give you a lot of positioning utility. they are weak af tho

I'm glad though. It seemed really simple to start but it gets so difficult. I am trying to learn the pike.

I'd probably like this game. I've come to terms that I'm not the best when it comes to online games though. My hours are too weird. If I got this, I wouldn't only be able to play it at like 4AM...

Well you can basically just get pug groups from the queue too if you want to play! It's pretty fun
