All the extra content was in the past, which was always the hardest part to get to.

There was literally no benefit of the future, meaning it was a waste of time (bad), or you barely got to see the fruit of your labor (good)

The levels werent really designed with horizontal movement in mind. Probably the easiest Sonic game in terms of simply completing stages.

Graphics maintained same style as Sonic 1, while all other entries would update the art in some way.

Bosses dont really have challenging patterns. Most are small "puzzles" that are defeated once you finish them.

Wacky Workbench. Just Wacky Workbench.

Time Stones makes the central mechanic (time travel) completely redundant. You can ignore it completely and still get the best ending. Conversely, you can manually get good futures in every stage but you need the time stones anyway.

...like, the more I play it the more it feels like an experiment than a fully fleshed out game. >~>

SonicCD is good but definitely overrated. the level design was garbage. the level gimmicks were trash.

Nahhhh, US soundtrack is definitely one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time.

Sonic CD never clicked with me and I'm a big fan of the original trilogy.

It feels like a weird fan game.

I really like how the levels emphasize slowing down and just checking everything out. It changed the way I look at 2D sonic.
