Like, I wanna get a new set of headphones, but my old pair that I've had for 2 years still work very well, and they only cost me 20 bucks.

But I'm hesitant to buy a new pair because I'll feel bad for my old pair. The old pair did nothing, and they still work perfectly. The old pair is doing everything it's supposed to do, but I don't want to make them feel bad by buying a new pair and never using them again.

Same thing with my mouse. The click wheel is a little loose, but everything else works perfectly. I've had this mouse for 2 years as well, and I kinda don't wanna upgrade it because it mostly still works fine and I don't want to hurt it's feelings. I also got it for like 13 bucks, and it's been a trooper.

I've kinda always been this way, which I guess is good because I keep all my electronics in great shape, but goddamn, I feel like I'm crazy

Hell no wtf

But I do tend to fall for the sunk cost fallacy or think "Well it's not broken, so I don't need a replacement"

That's not really anthropomorphizing your electronics.

Anthropomorphizing would be if you named your headphones "Steve" and acted like they had their own personality.

What you're describing is closer to animism.

I used to do that with my ps1 when I was younger. Until one day I got really mad at "him" because I thought it was cheating on a game, then I never talked to it again. lol

What you said in your opening post might barely be considered anthropomorphizing something, you just expressed hesitancy to replace something. And lol at trying to tell me what Anthropomorphic means.

That is personification or animism. Anthropomorphizing is a bit different

I put googly eyes on my robot vacuum and I reassure it when it gets trapped. That's still personification.

An entity is a distinct being. Like a living thing. Not a box... Generally.

It could be but those other terms exist and apply especially for things like what you do...

Most of the time, it seems like a scenario where an old priest and a young priest with some holy water would be ideal. (Just keep the holy water out of the vents.)

I didn't play the first one either, and my mind was blown when I played spla2n. It's so much fun

After my father left me and my mother started beating me I referred to my gamecube controllers as mommy and daddy, in order to fill the hole left in my life.
