A more fleshed out origins with a (hopefully) better story, branching paths, dialogue choices, create a character of sorts, etc..

Except it looks like it has nothing assassin-y to it. That's what I want to know. How does this tie in to the series?

I'll play it regardless I'm sure. Origins was great.

never thought I'd be more excited for an assassin's creed game than a fallout game

They've already said it continues the present day story arc started with origins.
But honestly, the series became nothing more than a historical simulator years ago.

This is just a Bioware/Bethesda action RPG at this point

Syndicate was the last real Assassin's Creed game

Origins is the best game in the series, gameplay wise and world wise. Story wise, not so mitch

Which sucked for me because the modern day part was always my favorite. That aspect of the narrative had me so hyped and it just ended on a whimper and then the next few games were half-heartedly dragging the husk around, so I'm glad to hear it's back (slowed down on the games after this, still need to play Syndicate).

Syndicate was the last real progress for the modern day, Origins was just like Assassin's Creed 1 in terms of setup

I don't care much for the present day story unless we're getting a present day game. I want to know what makes these two Greek soldiers assassins. Right now it looks more like Ryse 2 than AssCreed. I loved Origins but I don't want another whole game of revenge and then we embrace the creed at the very end.

Except origins basically opens up a whole new direction for present day involving old stuff

Well lucky for you this game takes place nearly 400 years before the founding of the Creed so it won't!
