He created the hologram based off her record, which apparently extensively covered how she designed the ship systems but forgot to mention she was married. He dated that hologram until the real thing arrived, then got mad because she was nothing like his hologram (that he openly created the personality of), and then continued to be disappointed when she was understandably offput that he essentially made a holographic sex doll of her.
