I have Smackdown on in the background as I'm packing for a trip and every single line from the commentators, wrestlers, and any on screen personality feels so forced.

It's like a shitty infomercial. How do people watch 5 hours of this a week lol

I watch the 20 mins of Ups/Downs from WC and then the PPVs, unless it really doesnt interest me (like Backlash last month).

While it's true that you'll never be as much of a wrestling fan in your adulthood as you were in your teenage years, it's objectively gotten worse over the years.

The main problems are that they want to distance themselves away from "wrestling" as much as possible and they want to be a one-size-fits-all company. Neither of which are possible.

I dont dispute how campy and cheesy it was. When they talked though it felt natural. It felt like things a guy like stone cold would say.

I still catch some NJPW or ROH and its different. It's not wrestling its WWE

I'm surprised they're still in business at this point. I see a lot of their live shows have seats taped off so they don't have to show the world that nobody likes this shit anymore, but they constantly tell you it's a jam packed house. Also every single wrestle is the same personality wise. There's no more entertainment.

Vince and Kevin Dunn micromanage the show where everyone that appears on TV is fed certain lines they have to say. I can't remember the last time I heard a promo that at least appeared to sound unscripted.

Super formulaic matches so there are fewer injuries.

It kinda makes me think of action movies; especially back when martial arts were popular. While straight-to-video productions often had lengthier fights with better choreography, the Hollywood productions were more satisfying because they established characters that the audience could care about. As surely as Hulk Hogan once ruled the wrestling world with nothing more than a haymaker and a body slam, who is in the fight matters just as much if not more than what transpires during the fight.

They go out and do a lot of freestyle wrestling without acknowledging that it's actually wrestling, but they don't build up the characters or make them interesting. The Rock, Steve Austin, and every other star to captivate audiences drew from something inside them and helped establish their own characters. That's not allowed anymore because they're working from a script. Another problem is that they no longer take the time to systematically build a star by placing him in matches of increasingly greater significance over the course of a year or two. They just book at random and act like you've earned your title shot once you've put in enough time.

Yeah I watched the recent Okada vs Omega 2/3 falls match at Dominion and that fucking kicks the shit out of anything I've seen from WWE. Maybe even all 3 of their matches.
