That boss was really interesting. It's not a stat gate but very much a strat gate. But it's also pretty luck dependent I think. I had to try a few different builds to find something that worked, and when I eventually won it was pretty fast. I think you need a lot of DPS and do a bunch of burst damage with chains, so Sharla might not be the best.

There's another boss later that really turns things on their head too. That's probably the best boss I've seen in a JRPG.

Some of my only deaths in XC2 (that weren't from fighting things waaaay beyond my level) were from fighting the boss monsters in that one poisony area of Temperantia.
