We have this one client that everyone told me was the nastiest, most difficult, most insane client ever. She'd call 4 times a day and send 5 different emails and change her request over and over. No one wanted to deal with her because most of her phone calls ending in her being a bitch. My first job here was actually to build a case file of her unreasonable-ness so that we could fire her. And yes, as I looked through this file of emails I saw a lot of nasty shit going on. A lot of veiled threats and complaints and drama over not very much.
Now everyone made her sound like a royal pest but I was reading through the correspondence I realised that this is just a woman who has been ignored and treated like an idiot, and most critically - never told to sit the fuck down. I found out that the previous account manager had a habit of agreeing to her requests, never scheduling the work (because it was stupid work) and then ignoring her emails...and then refusing to answer her follow up emails because she was " being rude about it". Once I realised this woman was really just like my ex our working relationship has been going swimmingly. And I don't think her requests are largely unreasonable. I just think she voices them unreasonably. Like a crazy fucking girlfriend you have to reign in all the damn time because she says shit before really thinking about it. I'm sorry if this is sexist but really the more I treat clients like my girlfriends the better things tend to go --- CE's Resident Scotsman. https://imgur.com/ILz2ZbV ... Copied to Clipboard!

You don't need to date high maintenance to know this. It's kind of common sense.

You don't need to date high maintenance to know this. It's kind of common sense. It makes perfect logical sense but years experience as an account manager has led me to believe that most people will handle a difficult client by not handling them directly, which makes the entire thing worse. Asherlee10 posted... This describes about 90% of the clients that I work with that are women. I've become sexist against women, I think. I'm more fearful of the men who never change mood and always seem polite but distant, no matter how angry or annoyed they are. You're not wrong and it's usually the quickest way to light a fire up someone's ass but I fucking hate the guy that CCs in the most senior person tangentially involved any time things get remotely hairy.
