Any "most forgettable whatever" guesses are going to be heavily biased. You might be able to think of examples that lack notable qualities and thus might be the most forgettable, but that's not necessarily a direct correlation.

Fortunately in this case there is a way to answer this:

https://www.sporcle.com/games/g/pokemon/results

Turns out it's Lickitung. There is a spelling bias to Sporcle too, but most of gen 1 aren't too bad in that regard. Lickitung feels like the right answer too. Not used by enemy trainers, not found in the wild, not a good pokemon to fight with or as a utility. It's obscure.

Anyone who has wached the anime know Lickitung from it being one of Jessie's Pokemon though.

When I took that Sporcle quiz, I couldn't get Exeggutor or its pre-evo because of the spelling, so I'd assume people were spelling it as "Lickitongue."

It doesn't help that Lickilicky is one of my least favorite Pokemon because I think it shits on Lickitung's design, so I'm probably just biased.

Gen 1:
Dewgong, cloyster, parasect, magmar, electabuzz

How is cloyster forgettable

Even though I just looked him up 10 minutes ago, I couldn't answer that question because I already forgot who we are talking about.

-OU tier for four generations.
-Tied with Gyarados for the highest base stats of any non-legendary/pseudo-legendary Pokemon in R/B/Y.
-Highest physical defense at the time & still some of the highest physical defense in the game.

Objectively a pretty memorable gen 1 Pokemon, sorry.

Remember when there was that one double battle (I wanna say in FR/LG) where it was a couple and one had a cloyster and the other had an onyx

Porygon's got a three stage evolution (two of which are good competitively) and is infamously blamed for the seizure episode, and is thus the only Pokemon banned from being featured in episodes of the anime.

Octillery is fine. He has a good design and is pretty usable in game (and possibly out of game thanks to stuff like Sniper).

Tf?!? Victreebel was the go-to option for a grass-type in R/B/Y + G/S/C if you didn't pick the grass starter.

Only competitive players will know this though, which is a small proportion of the player base. What does OU tier even mean?

I'd have to choose Mr.Mime. You obtain it as a gift and I don't know anyone who used it ever. You fight like 2 of them and we only remember it from the anime.

Gen 2: Quillfish or Octillary. You mostly never see them unless you're looking to complete your dex.

Gen 3: I can't really name anything.

Same for other gens. It all gets blurry with 4.

Cloyster is objectively not forgettable if only for the vagina memes. Forget literally anything about the games it looks like a fucking purple vagina.
