Honestly, I'm really surprised they haven't tried to give it another go.

They're going to completely miss the renewed dinosaur craze and it's weird because RE's gameplay is now much more suited for dinosaur fighting.

I know dc2 ended on a cliffhanger and dc3 was unrelated. But with the gameplay of re2 remake, or even RE7, it could be dope.

In an age where even sure fire hits are under performing, Capcom isn't really in a position to release a game in a series that under performed 20 years ago.

It's only going to work if they bring in Stephanie Morgenstern to voice Regina again.

Here's the thing, it doesn't have to be a remake or sequel. They can reboot the series or give it the RE7 treatment. Another story within the universe.

The problem is that Dino Crisis has always under performed I'm pretty sure, and even at their worst I doubt the last two DMC's did worse than Dino Crisis 3 did.

To be fair, Dino crisis 3 was not only a shit game, it was also an early Xbox exclusive in the era when ps2 and GameCube existed and Xbox was new.

Dc2 is one of the finest games ever, imo. I loved its change of focus to more action and less survival horror/resident evil clone. It made it a really fun Dino action game that still retained some survival horror elements. It also had some great boss fights.

Devil May Cry 4 sold like 2 million on launch and eventually hit 3 million overall.

DmC also ended up hitting their sales goals of 2 million but I think that might have been including the definitive edition.

That being said, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 also sold over a million copies which I think was very good for the time of their release. Dino Crisis 3 was the only one that flopped.

I think the problem is just that game development has become way more work than it was back in the day and they gotta have most of their people focusing on specific games, and Resident Evil is always going to take priority on this front.

They shot themselves in the foot with dc3. A radical new direction, released as an exclusive for a new console with no established base yet, when most everyone bought a ps2 already by that point.
