This is so awkward. To be honest, my family and family acquaintances tend to be for the most part, good people. Few in trouble with the police ever. Few few smokers or drug users. A mostly united family and friend circle.

When I was young, my uncle had a friend who would come to the family get-togethers because this guy has been friends with my uncle since they were little kids. When I was a child, I remember eating cheese/crackers/pepperoni sandwiches and I remember this friend of my uncle's would steal pepperonis from my plate for fun and I would get soooooo pissed. Even to this day, whenever I would see the guy, I would call him the pepperoni thief.

A few months ago, my grandmother died and he even came to my grandmother's funeral. Again, while I wouldn't really make contact with him since it's been a while since the pepperoni incident and it was the only true interaction I had with him, I still didn't really talk with him during that time. I just shook his hand while in line as he made his way to pay her respects.

Last night, my mother shown me an article with his picture. My immediate thought was that he was killed or something. Upon looking and reading, it said he was arrested for child pornography. A man with a pension like him. He was in contact with another child porn guy from New York who was busted and it came back on him. They found videos of a 4-8 year old child on his phone and more on his computer.

It's so strange someone who has been so close to the family would be into this.

I know my family and family friends aren't perfect, but these kinds of things are almost unheard of through our circles. It just goes to show, anyone could be a fucking whack job. :/

To this day, I don't even know how to handle it, or if I should even bother talking to the guy after he gets released

That's how it goes. It's always people, generally well off sorts who blend in, who have a sick obsession with children or murder or rape. Or in some cases, a combination of the above.

My Aunts son ( not blood related).

Got involved in a sting operation..had files on his computer in addition to trying to meet up with a 13 year old girl. He always had problems, but I'd never guess that.

That is a good life lesson. I remember when I learned that lesson. I was like 14 or something and watching porn online. I checked the comments on one video I was watching and some guy randomly said about the porn star in the video "She looks just like my niece. That is so hot.". I mean, you don't expect high class statements from porn comments but that was so randomly creepy that it always stuck with me. Never know what goes on in the minds of even your family.

I mean its pretty shitty that people have this kidn fo thing, its not exactly their choice t be attarcted to minors in the same way people dont choose to be heterosexual, homosexual, pansexual, or any of the other combinations, I know its kind of a grey area and discussing it triggers a bunch of people that cant really try and put themselves in the shoes of someone who cant really get off to what he likes in real life because it involves preying on minds that dont have the maturity to handle what is going on so instead they opt to look at videos of it but in the end thise videos generally are made by sick fucks, so it is quite indeed a fucking lose lose coin flip.

I have read a lot of people that have this "condition" and never act on their impulses but I cannot even begin to imagine how it must feel to actually never be able to get off on what gets you off, I can imgagine spending my life never ever getting laid by a moderatley attractive woman, it would be the fucking worst but they live this life for decades, that must be unbearable.

a bit ranty but that is my two cents.
