I'm just going to guess it's due to the completely ridiculous unrealistic expectations and absolute incompetence from management. Coupled with the realization that you could do a better job than they do yet the pack of jackasses are somehow your boss. Because I've been there. Makes you want to drink and burn the world to ash.

The customers I could always deal with aside from a real turd once in a while. But they're like a temporary annoyance. Management is like a tumor on your neck, always there slowly sucking away your will to live.

Actually, most management is really nice. It's the customers.

As someone who does management myself it always makes me laugh when people pick up on one or two bad decisions and act like its proof youre the worst manager ever forgetting about the other 95% of the time I make a good call and no one notices.

All a retail manager has to do is have the employee's back and never cave to a customer's demands 'just to get them out of there.' Nothing else you do matters or is a 'good call.'

True but in some cases, management is that bad. That's where I am now. But one example is a Manager, below a Director and about the Supervisors, did not understand how bereavement time works.
She literally thought that a persons natural days off constituted bereavement time. She actually forced the employee back to work early for this reason. ((The employee lost her grandmother and was shattered, only to be torched by this Managers misunderstanding.)) There was no apology and no action taken.

Also my Director bought a house from one of her subordinates three steps below her. Said subordinate has gotten special treatment for years. On top of that, the subordinate got employee of the month in the same month.

I've seen some shit.
There is such thing as bad management.

What pisses me off about working freight is the unrealistic standards the district manager places on us.
We tell the f***** that there's no space to put out certain products that don't even sell and we get chewed out because it doesn't sell. Yet, they insist on us recieving these items and making sure they go out. Thank god, I have a job outside retail.

I don't know about TC, but my options were limited because I didn't graduate from college and can't work manual labor. I'd like to move out of the retail sector of my field at some point. I'm not getting over my anxiety. I'm working around it best I can.

Why can't you work manual labor?

Because I have a neuropathic condition where anything more than light walking and standing is actually bad for me.

I have really bad social anxiety too. I took a job running the front desk at 2 different hotels. Oddly enough I've only had a few panic attacks and they were from being stuck with the person training me for 8 hours. I think I might actually be improving a bit, hopefully.

I did it just fine. It simply didn't have the same consequences because I was "playing a character" and so I never took humiliation/embarrassment personally. None of the things I did were on me, they were things I was paid to do.
